On Wednesday, September 4, there was an Informational Meeting about the 2025 School Trip to Washington D.C. There was a $125 drawing for a student to earn to go towards the trip expenses. The meeting covered the trip's itinerary.
On Monday, May 5, 2025, the bus departs from Dryden High School heading to Washington D.C. Tuesday, the bus arrives in Washington D.C and places that are being toured are the White House, the U.S. Capitol, United States Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Pentagon Memorial. On Wednesday, the group will be going to George Washington's house that he lived in; Ford’s Theatre is next and is the building where President Lincoln was assassinated; then the tour is going to the U.S. National Archives Museum to see the original Declaration of Independence and Constitution; next is the Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, Korean War Veterans, Jefferson, FDR, and MLK Memorials. Thursday will be the Air Force Memorial, then the National Museum of African American History and Culture the National Portrait Gallery, and the American Art Museum which has all of the original president portrait paintings. At the end of Thursday, the bus leaves Washington D.C. and starts heading back to Dryden High School, arriving Friday morning.

Senior Seminar Speaker
Note: Dryden High School seniors have the opportunity to take Senior Seminar, a class offered for the ninth year in a row in conjunction with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN).
MCAN's mission is to increase college readiness, participation, and completion in Michigan, particularly among low-income students, first-generation college-going students, and students of color. Further, the goal of the College Planning Course is to increase college completion by lowering barriers that prevent students from getting to and through college, including Social Capital, Academic Preparation, College Knowledge, and Affordability. College is defined as the attainment of education beyond high school, including postsecondary certificates and academic degrees.
Weekly guest speaker topics range from specific educational opportunities to post-secondary life skills as well as the knowledge necessary to be productive members of a community, among others.
University of Michigan Flint
by Keira Miller
The speaker that came in was a guy from the University of Michigan Flint. His name was Steven Curtis, he is an admissions counselor. He went to Western Michigan University and studied in political sciences, and is currently working on getting his Masters degree. He spoke to us about all the benefits that the University of Michigan of Flint can give you.
He was a very good speaker and convinced me to apply at the University of Michigan Flint, the way he explained the scholarships, the dorms, the clubs, etc. made it easy for me to decide that I want to apply there and maybe even go there. You can get your Bachelor’s degree from online schooling, which is good if you don’t want to go into class. I’m thinking about attending the Fall Open house to see what the campus looks like, and to see the dorms. This University is not a huge school, there are only like 6,000 students that attend this college and I think I would like that because Dryden is a very small school so it would be similar.
The University of Michigan Flint has a very good nursing program that is hands-on and not all about the research part, they care more about the students actually learning how to do everything with their hands. I really like that so that is why I am considering this school.
