Principal's Message
Greetings Biomedical Preparatory families,
Greeting families,
I am glad to announce that on Wednesday, April 13th, we will have our introductory meeting. The meeting will be via Zoom. During this meeting, we will answer the questions you have posted. We will also share the vision and mission of our campus, and we will ask for your input to create the final version of them.
We will also talk about the parent organizations we will establish and their requirements.
Last, I encourage you to register your child as soon as possible if you have not done it already.

Registration
- All students PK-1st grade (new or returning) must register every year
- Registration is done 100% online at www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd or from our Pre-K website at www.prekdallas.org
- Parents may register from home using a computer, tablet, or smart phone.
Is the school tuition-free?
Kinder and First grade are free for all students. Free Pre Kinder follows the attached criteria.
A child is eligible for free Pre-K if the child is 3-years-old or is 4-years-old on or before September 1st and meets at least one of the following eligibility requirements:
- is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student eligible to participate in the national free or reduced lunch program), including students who receive SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid benefits; or
- is unable to speak and comprehend the English language (based on preLAS score); or
- is homeless; or
- is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care); or
- is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States or is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
- is the child of a recipient of the Star of Texas Award

If you do not qualify under the free Pre-kinder criteria, there are two other options.
Scholarships:
A child is eligible for the Dallas ISD Pre-K Scholarship if the child is 3-years-old or is 4-years-old on or before September 1st and does not meet eligibility criteria for free Pre-K but meets at least one of the following:
- Student group with historical academic needs as identified in district data (currently identified as African American students)
- Expanded income
- Native English speaker unable to speak or comprehend the English language. All parents can now request that their child be evaluated for English proficiency (preLAS).
Tuition:
A child is eligible for tuition Pre-K if the child is 3-years-old or is 4-years-old on or before September 1st and does not meet eligibility criteria for free Pre-K or for the Dallas ISD Pre-K Scholarship.

What is your bell schedule?
We will follow Dallas ISD elementary schedule. As it is right now, classes will begin at 7:45 AM and end at 3:15 PM.
Who do I contact if I have questions about Dallas ISD Special Education Services?
If your child is not in a public school this school year, you may contact
Child Find at 972-581-4765 or visit their website.
Has a before/after school program been identified? Will before/after school be provided starting in August?
- There is one program that has been selected as the sole finalist. The program will provide before and after-school care starting in August. Once Dallas ISD completes the approval process, we will share the information with all the parents.
Could you provide information about teachers hired for the school?
- We are in the process of interviewing candidates for the school. All teachers will have specific characteristics based on the teacher profile created for the school. Once the hiring process finishes, we will share the teacher information with parents. We will also have a meet the teacher day before the end of this school year. We are identifying possible places to host this event as the building will be ready in July.
- We offer gifted and talented learning opportunities for all students that qualify. The gifted and talented teacher will share the qualification process at the beginning of the school year.
What will be the student/ teacher ratio?
- PK3: 18 students with 1 teacher and 1 teacher assistant.
- PK4: 22 students with 1 teacher and 1 teacher assistant
- Kinder: each class will have 22 students with 1 teacher
- First Grade: each class will have 22 students with 1 teacher
Is there a playground?
- We will have one playground in during the first two years and one more will be added when the new building is completed.
What special classes will you offer?
- Physical education (Gym)
- Music
- Art
- STEM
Will you have recess?
- All elementary classes will have 30 minutes of daily recess.
Will you offer 2 --way dual language classes?
- Once the enrollment process is finish, we will know how many English learners we have and we may begin offering seats for native speakers that would like to be part of the program. We will share more information as soon as is available.
Will there be a PTA?
- Once the families enrolled their children, we will establish a PTA. Additionally, we will also establish a Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) committee.
