Greetings Patriot Families,

We hope that everyone enjoyed some fun times in the snow with friends and family over the extended weekend! Fall Semester grades will be finalized and posted on Monday, January 13, 2025 so please check Infinite Campus this week to stay informed of your student's academic performance. We also invite you to join us for our School Council Meeting on Thursday, January 16th at 7:15am in the Media Center.

We will celebrate all students who have made it to the county level for Governor's Honors recognitions. Students from Sandy Creek and each of our high schools in the county will be honored on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Fayette County High School for a special night celebrating their academic and or artistic achievements in a variety of categories.

We expect all students to arrive on time to school tomorrow no later than 8:25am. Please note that we will begin conducting unannounced tardy sweeps for students who are found in the hallways after the tardy bell and consequences will be given to students who cannot manage on-time arrival to each class.

Appropriate School Attire:

Parents, we need your help! Many of our students are coming to school out of compliance with our FCBOE dress code. Please check your individual student, in the morning before they leave the house, for the following items:

• No blankets, pajama pants, bedroom shoes/slippers, or robes

• Pants must not have any holes above the knee

• Hoodies, hats, scarfs, bonnets can not be worn on students' heads when inside of the building

• Students should not tie their shirts in a knot at the front, back, or side of the shirt.

• Any shirt that exposes skin at the waist (including shirts that are tied in a knot at the back)

• Skirts and shorts must have a hemline that meets the finger tips in length

Our Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams will play on the road this week against LaGrange, Mary Persons, and Upson Lee. We will match up against Fayette County on Saturday at Fayette County High School. Please come out to support our student athletes in all of their academic and athletic endeavors.

Mr. Geimere Latimer will be joining the Sandy Creek Administrative team as our new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director! He joins us from Flat Rock Middle School where he served as a P.E. teacher and former Math teacher.

9th grader Leilani Boswell was selected to play in the Georgia state allstar game. She was one of 40 players in the state selected.

Assistant Coach Tim Rada and myself Head Coach Neal were also selected to Coach in the game.

We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.

Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. About Notable Narratives:

NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help

Since our founding in August 2020:

• Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.

• 1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.

• 94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.

Next Steps:

Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.

• Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
• Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
• After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
