PTSA News
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
'Tis the season to express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers and staff at MLC for their unwavering commitment and compassion! A warm thank you to the generous MLC families who enthusiastically supported our “Gifts of Gratitude” donation drive. Your contributions allowed us to curate gift bags for all 47 MLC teachers and staff members, each featuring gift cards and small items from (mostly) local businesses. We are deeply appreciative of the entire MLC community who help make this school such a special place.
As the winter break approaches, we wish everyone a rejuvenating time to rest and recharge, and ample opportunities to experience the magic of the season. Here's to a New Year brimming with love, laughter, and fun adventures!
MLC HOLIDAY MEAL FUND: Ongoing Support
And another big thank you for the generous contributions to our Holiday Meal Fund! Due to your support, we have distributed $1,400 to families who have requested food assistance during this holiday season. In times like these, community solidarity becomes a foundation we can all rely on - fostering a spirit of compassion and support here at MLC.
The Holiday Meal Fund supports members of our school community throughout the year so it’s not too late to donate or to request a grocery card for your family.
EQUAL EXCHANGE SALE: Fundraiser for 4x5 spring field trip
We are hosting this fundraiser in collaboration with the 4x5 class to raise funds for their annual spring overnight field trip to Camp Hancock. Equal Exchange is a worker-owned democratic workplace offering fairly traded, sustainably grown organic foods by small farmer co-ops. We’ve restocked the popular Congo whole bean coffee and ordered several new varieties of chocolate bars so check out our selection at MLCPTSA.org. Email Sierra with any questions or to arrange delivery over holiday break.
BOTTLEDROP: Collect for 4x5 field trip fund through 12/31
We participate in BottleDrop Give year round, but all money earned through the end of December will be dedicated to the 4x5 annual spring overnight field trip fund. It’s an easy way to recycle your refundable glass, aluminum, and plastic beverage containers AND support experiential learning at MLC! Our MLC-labeled BottleDrop blue bags are always available in the front office and in bins around the school, but if you need any over holiday break just email Development@MLCPTSA.org. Please read the flyer inserted in the bag for important details and find all of the BottleDrop deposit locations HERE.
SAVE THE DATE: Pastini Pastathon 1/16!
Our next Restaurant Night Out will be at Pastini in NE on Thursday, January 16. Pastini’s Pastathons are a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while raising money for MLC and supporting a wonderful family-friendly local business! Simply dine in at lunch or dinner or call in an order for takeout food and mention the name “Metropolitan Learning Center” and Pastini will donate 40% of each check.
