Great job Mr. Berhorst and 5th grade students!
Need to Knows
2nd quarter midterms need to be ready to go home on Friday, November 20. Please put a copy or share your digital file of your midterms in either Dr. Wilson (3-5) or Mrs. Milhollin's (K-2) mailboxes. Sending them home Friday gives parents a chance to see them and ask questions before the Thanksgiving Break.
Pajama Day Fundraiser - November 19 - Students can wear their pajamas to school for a donation of $2/staff can wear pajamas for a donation of $5. This idea came from two of our fifth grade students who wanted to a way Pioneer Trail kids could help out the Sprenger Family. What awesome kids we have! Please put this in your newsletter. Classroom teachers, please keep track of students who have paid. You can turn money into the office daily or on November 19.
PTO Family Movie Night (Inside Out) - November 19 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Pizza, soda, and candy will be sold. Movie will be shown in the cafeteria and gym. Families need to stay together - children cannot attend without an adult. Bring blankets and spread out! All proceeds will be donated to the Sprenger Family. Try to attend with your family or work taking donations/selling concessions. Please put this in your newsletter. RSVP forms can be turned into the office. Another copy will go home this Friday. PTO is trying to get a guess for how many pizzas they will need.
Grades should be updated in Infinite Campus every Tuesday. When you have assessed a standard, enter the rubric score in IC.
Share/send/give your Math Unit Pre/Post test results with Dr. Wilson.
Are your iPad headphones all working? Make sure you let Ellen know if any of your technology pieces are not working correctly. This way they are always ready to use!
Keep your website updated!
Keep your grade level goals posted in the hallways, updated and let Dr. Wilson know when you meet your goals. As soon as you complete a goal your team needs to select a new one to work on.
Congrats to Mona, Gricelda, Chance, and Chris! PT was #2 in the cleanest building competition!
District "We" Surveys and ICLE Update
Next week we will participate in district wide surveys conducted by ICLE. You have heard a little discussion of the district's work with ICLE ( International Center for Leadership in Education). The district will be partnering with ICLE over the next 2-3 years. These surveys will help to provide schools with an understanding about how our students, teachers and staff perceive elements critical to effective learning environments.
The surveys are taken online and should take less than 20 minutes. Grades 3-5 will need to take their students to the lab in order to complete the "We Learn" survey. Additional information including the link and the password will be in your mailbox no later than Monday morning. All surveys (We Lead, We Learn, We Teach) must be completed between Monday, November 9 and Friday, November 13. It is very important that we answer honestly as the data will help us understand our own building. I feel this is a very important first step towards helping our district move forward together.
WE Lead = All building staff, including librarian, counselors, paras, food service, custodial, secretaries, etc...
WE Learn = All students grade 3 and above.
We Teach = All teachers that have a roster (e.g. classroom teachers, Specials teachers, Resource teachers, Reading Recovery teachers,)
Please note that all staff who take the "We Teach" survey are also to take the "We Lead" Survey. I will be sure the appropriate protocol sheets are in your mailbox so you will know which ones you should complete. If you have any questions please see Suzy.
This week you have an opportunity to complete a survey from the International Center of Leadership in Education (ICLE). This feedback will initiate innovative, meaningful change requirements for effective instructional leadership. Beginning this Monday, Nov. 16th, a team of International Center consultants will be in our district. Individual consultants will conduct onsite visits at each school and visit about 1/3 of our classrooms. The visits will be short and last from 10-20 minutes. The visits provide opportunities for the consultant to observe classrooms to collect data on the instructional practices and strategies used in classrooms and how instructional strategies are currently impacting learning.
Both the survey findings and the classroom observations will help ICLE provide recommendations for improvements in instructional leadership and classroom strategies.
