Superintendent's Message
As we head into Spring Break, I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a safe, restful, and rejuvenating week. This is a well-deserved opportunity to recharge and spend quality time with loved ones.
When we return, we'll be in the home stretch of the school year, with many exciting opportunities ahead. I hope you come back refreshed and ready to finish strong. Enjoy your break!
Sincerely,
Dr. Dan Callaghan

We’re excited to share the 2025-26 School Year Calendar with our families! Please note some key changes to our traditional schedule due to the tentative renovations planned for Summer 2026. These adjustments will help ensure that important facility updates can be completed efficiently while minimizing disruptions to student learning.

- The first day of student attendance for all grades is Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
- Winter Break will begin at the close of school on Friday, December 19, 2025 (Half-Day). Teachers will return for an Institute Day on Monday, January 5, 2026. Students will return on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
- Spring Break will begin at the close of school on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Classes will resume on Monday, March 30, 2026.
- If no emergency days are used, the last student attendance day will be a Half-Day on Friday, May 22, 2026.
As always, we appreciate your support and flexibility as we plan for the future of our schools!
Please take the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey by March 28!
If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. Your feedback is critical in identifying our district’s strengths, targeting areas for improvement, and guiding future planning at both the school and district levels.
We must reach at least a 20% parent response rate for our results to be reported. Your input matters, and we want to hear from as many families as possible.
Thank you for your time and support in making D140 the best it can be for our students!
