Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD.
Today is the final Friday of the school year! These last days of school are an exciting time; an opportunity for adults to pause and reflect on the academic and personal growth our students have made since last August, and a time of celebration and accomplishment. Thank you to our amazing staff who have guided and encouraged our students throughout the year.
It is also a time to express our gratitude for the many volunteers and partners who enthusiastically and generously give their time, talent, and treasure to making our schools great places to learn and work. Special recognition to our four PTOs for all their efforts this year to make our district a better place by bringing the funding, the food, and the fun, to our campuses. Thank you for being part of our team!
We are excited to share that the district has been awarded a $1 million Golden State Pathways Program (GSPP) grant! The funds will be used over five years to enhance our current Biomedical pathway and develop a new interdisciplinary Environmental Studies pathway. Read more about it HERE.
Please note that next week is also the last week of work for our teachers and front office staff. If you need to communicate with your child’s teacher or access student records, please make sure you reach out before offices close for the summer.
One last reminder to please let us know if your student will be returning to the district next year. REGISTER HERE.

Caught Being Awesome!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Taryn Serna is a special education teacher that is incredibly dedicated, with a gentle and caring demeanor that fosters a supportive learning environment. She is highly responsive to our daughter's needs, always going above and beyond to ensure she receives the best education possible. Constantly innovating and creating new methods of teaching, she truly deserves recognition and praise for the exceptional commitment to our daughter's growth and development.
- Maria Monroy: Our daughter's instructional aide is truly remarkable! She has a special talent for keeping our daughter engaged and motivated in her studies, creating a nurturing and safe space for learning to flourish. By providing just the right balance of challenge and encouragement, she empowers our daughter to reach her full potential. Her friendly and communicative approach fosters a unique bond between them, one that we deeply appreciate and are grateful for. Her skill and dedication in what she does are invaluable, deserving of all the praise and recognition.
- Andrew Fox is the kindest, friendliest, most efficient custodian! He comes to work every day with a smile on his face and the best attitude around. Not only is he great at his custodial duties but he jumped in to assist one of my students during a critical time and for that I am thankful. His quick action and knowledge make him a critical part of the Village staff. Thank you, Andrew!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
Mobile Device Protection Plan for Families With CUSD Chromebooks
If your student has a CUSD issued Chromebook, you are encouraged to review and consider purchasing the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan (MDPP) for the 2023-2024 school year. The annual plan is designed to cover accidental damage of CUSD Chromebooks including screen breakage. In addition, the plan will protect against spills, fire, flood, natural disasters, and theft/loss. Mobile hotspots, power cords, cables, and other accessories are not covered. Intentional damage, improper device storage, and misuse are not covered.
The cost of the plan is $20 per device per year. The plan must be purchased annually at the beginning of each school year or at the time of registration to be valid. To maintain coverage, a new plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device. This money will be used to create a dedicated pool of funding to replace or repair covered technology. All money collected through the program will go into a special account that can only be used to replace or repair technology that is covered in the plan. We highly recommend this low-cost protection plan. To purchase a Mobile Device Protection Plan for your student, please use the instructions at the following link: Mobile Device Protection Plan Purchase Instructions.
