ZHS Weekly Update

The mission of Zephyrhills High School is to prepare students to become productive, responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

Our vision is that all of our students achieve success in college, career, and life.

Hello Bulldog families!

We are only 21 days away from the start of the 24-25 school year with students!

But there's still plenty of fun packed into the remaining days of summer as we gear up for the 24-25 school year.

News, updates, and calendar information:

• July 23 and 24 are Bulldog University days for students. Email Mr. Page if you'd like more information (mpage@pasco.k12.fl.us).
• Campus is closed on Friday, July 26 for the final Friday of the summer.
• You are invited to join us for our Incoming 9th and New-to-ZHS student orientation on Thursday, August 1. See the photo below for more information.

• Meet Your Teachers Day (for students and families) is August 6th from 12 to 2 p.m.
• The student Dress Code and Wireless Communication Devices (WCD) policies have been updated. Please see below.
• Our lunch time for students will now be during 5th period! Please see the updated bell schedule below.

During the school year, we recognize students for showing Bulldog PRIDE in the classroom, in the cafeteria, on campus, and in the community with BARK points and other rewards.

Closed Campus:

ZHS is a closed campus. Students are expected to remain on campus for the entire school day and do not have permission to leave campus for food/lunch. Additionally, outside food, food delivery, and food sales is not allowed, as it jeopardizes our Free and Reduced Meal status. These deliveries will be refused.

Tuesday, August 6 is Meet the Teachers/ZHS Open House Day

• Tour the ZHS campus (Students can access their schedules in MyStudent on this day.)
• Meet and greet your teachers and Bulldog staff
• Pay any fees, fill out any last minute forms, and more!
• Time: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  

Student Drop Off and Pickup:

• The front bus loop is CLOSED to car traffic and student drop off between the times of 6:40 and 7:30 a.m.
• Student drop off is to be completed in the GYM parking lot off Henry. Please pull all the way forward so we can effectively and efficiently drop off students.
• Please be careful and maintain safe/slow speed in all parking lots to ensure student safety.

Parents and students are encouraged to review the updated expectations for dress and appearance located in the Student Code of Conduct for the upcoming school year.

Grades 9 through 12:

*Students who bring WCDs to school must ensure that they remain on silent mode and completely out of view for the entire school day except for the student’s lunch period, or as expressly authorized by the classroom teacher for a specific instructional activity. (This policy includes passing period and when in the hallway.)

*Classroom teachers may also provide, and students may utilize, a cell phone storage area in their classroom. These expectations also apply to extra-curricular and co-curricular activities that occur before or after the school day.

ZHS is a closed campus. Students are expected to remain on campus for the entire school day and do not have permission to leave campus for food/lunch. Additionally, outside food, food delivery, and food sales is not allowed, as it jeopardizes our Free and Reduced Meal status. These deliveries will be refused.

1. You must purchase and display a 24-25 student parking pass online when you pay your fees.

2. All parking passes will be processed and distributed during student lunches in the commons during the first two weeks of school. Please do not go to Student Services.

3. You must have copies of your driver's license, current registration, and current proof of insurance to receive your parking pass during lunches.

4. All students, including students who drove last year, must purchase a new parking pass each year and provide updated vehicle information. Parking passes are only good for the school year.

**Students who drive will be permitted to park without a pass for the first week of school.**

**Seniors--we will be doing painted parking spaces. Details coming soon!**

Students are not allowed to have outside restaurant food on campus and are not allowed to have food delivered to campus. DoorDash and other food delivery services are NOT allowed. We jeopardize losing our status as a Free/Reduced Breakfast and Lunch school if we have unauthorized competition with the cafeteria. We are a closed campus for lunch and during the school day. Students may not leave campus and get food. If you have any questions about these requirements, contact Dr. Stanley at cstanley@pasco.k12.fl.us.

What is a School Advisory Council?

• The school Advisory Council is the means for community and parent involvement in and support of the schools.
• The School Advisory Council is composed of the principal, teachers, school staff, parents, business and community representatives, and secondary students.

How can I become a SAC member?

• Elected members of the School Advisory Council include teachers, educational support personnel, parents, and secondary students.
• Members are also appointed to the council by the principal to represent business and the community.
• Students serve as SAC members for a one year term.
• A chairperson is elected annually by the SAC membership.

Any parent, community business member, teacher, or student interested in serving on our SAC committee for the 2024-2025 school year--please email Mrs. McCafferty at cmccaffe@pasco.k12.fl.us for a nomination form. This is a great way to get involved and stay connected to your Bulldog family.

Students are not permitted to sell food, candy, chips, or beverages on campus. We do have fundraisers ongoing, but they are not during the school day. Many of our students and staff have allergies and we cannot compete with the cafeteria. No outside food, candy, or beverage sales are allowed. Students who do not follow these procedures are subject to school discipline.
