Enrichment courses are available to students on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in signing up your child for an enrichment course, please contact the middle school office at 518-654-9005. All courses will run Monday - Friday from 8:30am - noon.
STEM Camp! July 8th- July 11th
Course Description
Students will engage in hands-on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. From using new technologies, such as SPHERO balls to hands-on projects based on specific criteria, STEM camp is a way for students to use their imagination and creativity to learn more about STEM and collaboration. Some of the projects may include designing and building cardboard structures, coding SPHERO balls, forces and motion activities, activities about space, the solar system and more.

Introduction to French! Language, food, music and more! July 8th-11th
Course Description
Students will be exposed to French basics such as numbers, colors, greetings and expressions. Students will be exposed to Francophone music and construct a march madness style bracket. We will learn about common French pastries and make our own crêpes.

Music & Movement (Dalcroze, Eurthmy, and more)! July 15th- July 18th
Course Description
Students will explore music through movement, engaging the body, various synchronization exercises, and coordinated song-to-movement gestures. Furthermore, students will explore "music map making" and experience a variety of musical styles. Activities will utilize outdoor movement and incorporate fine motor skills, dexterity, body-kinesthetic development, and artistry/creativity.

History in our Hometown! July 15th- July 18th
Course Description
Students will explore the history of Corinth and surrounding communities. Activities include exploring Pagenstecher park, visiting the town hall, discovering historical buildings and landmarks, interviewing longtime Corinth residents, and digitizing or researching CHS yearbooks from the past.

Creative Writing/Short Stories July 15th -July 18th
Course Description
Are you interested in developing your writing? Do you have a story that you want to write? Or do you just have an idea that you think would make a great story? Join Mr. Vila this summer and let's get that story written! The short stories section of the Creative Writing Summer Enrichment course will have you reading, developing, and writing your own short stories! Whether it's contemporary fiction, fantasy, mystery, non-fiction, or more, you will workshop with other students to make your ideas and stories come to life!

Arts and Crafts of the Spanish Speaking World! July 15th- July 19th
Course Description
Students will learn how to make various crafts and decorations originating from Spanish speaking countries including (piñatas, papel picado, and more). They will also use paint and other supplies to decorate their own maracas and sugar skulls!

Community Drum Circle & Cultural Enrichment Through Music! July 22nd- July 25th
Course Description
Students will explore a variety of patterns, sequences, and community music making through a collaborative and team-centric drumming circle. Students will explore steady beat, call and response, improvisation, leading a drum circle, and cultural enrichment through rhythmic music-making.

Understanding Media and the impact it has! July 22th- July 25th
Course Description
Students will analyze various types of media to assess the influence it has on them, identify the creators and motivations behind it, and extract multiple key insights from the content.

Introduction to Spanish & Cooking Hispanic Food! July 29th - August 1st
Course Description
Students will learn introductory Spanish and vocabulary to talk about food. They will also learn to make various snacks/meals from Spanish speaking countries.

Creative Writing/Poetry July 29th - August 1st
Course Description
Students will be able to research and read creative works by a variety of authors and poets, while also being able to explore their own creativity and develop their own prose.

Crocheting! July 29th- August 1st
Course Description
Students would learn how to make a granny square to add to a blanket to donate to the South High Marathon Dance.

Geocaching! August 5th- August 8th
Course Description
Students will learn about geocaching, its background, history and why people do it. This course will explore skills such as reading/making maps, making geocaches and actually participating in the activity. There are local geocaches here in Corinth and in the greater community to be explored!

Harvesting & Cooking! August 12th- August 16th
Course Description
As an extension of our agriculture club, students will be given the opportunity to harvest the vegetables and herbs from the garden and use these to make nutritious meals in a fun and exciting course. By engaging in hands-on activities like planting, nurturing, and harvesting, students will not only learn about sustainable food production but also develop practical skills in culinary arts. This immersive experience will foster a deeper appreciation for where food comes from and empower students to make healthier food choices. Through this course, we aim to inspire a lifelong passion for gardening, cooking, and wholesome living among our students.
