The GIANT Company representatives Amy Bishop, Danielle Kaetzel, and Mikel Thomas with WCPS Food & Nutrition Services Director Mike Embly and Assistant Supervisor Chelsey White.
The meals provided by WCPS to children during the summer months have a tremendous impact within the community. During the summer of 2023, WCPS served a total of 58,078 lunches and 30,886 breakfast meals. Those figures include meals served through the summer school program, community partners (YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs), and the WCPS Meal Machine sites.
Customers at GIANT, MARTIN’S, and GIANT Heirloom Market stores support the Feeding School Kids initiative by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar, buying a reusable bag, or converting their CHOICE points into a donation for their local public school districts’ food programs. The initiative is in its fourth year. Through 2024, The GIANT Company and its customers have donated more than $7.5 million through the Feeding School Kids initiative.
