The Principal's Office
If you’re reading this, we’ve all made it through the first three days of school! Congratulations are in order, so give yourselves a pat on the back. It was refreshing to have the energy and spirit of our students back in the building this week and we hope they have experienced an amazing start to the year.
We started this year with a quick all-school Morning Meeting on Wednesday. This type of all-school gathering will be happening a lot this year as we continue to build a community built on friendship, respect, and achievement. We hope to incorporate more activities and recognition into future meetings, and it is so exciting to have the whole school together. I cannot wait to gather together more this year.
These past few days students and teachers have been reacquainting themselves with each other, learning classroom and school expectations, and discovering their path to learning for the year. I spent a lot of time just walking around the school, stopping in classrooms, just watching what was happening. The focus, enjoyment, and fun students were having was so clear that I couldn’t help but be impressed by what I was seeing. We even had a visit from Superintendent Dellinger-Pate on the first day of school!
As I continue to say, we know this year will not be without challenges, but it is clear that this school community can face those challenges with determination and positive energy. We’ve started off on the right foot as we work to make this “The Greatest Year in the History of Calais Elementary”.
Thank you for an amazing start to the school year and please do not hesitate to email or call if you have questions, concerns, or need anything.
Poll
We will try to do some fun polls throughout the year and compare what the community has chosen for answers versus what the students/staff have chosen. Let's have some fun Calais!! :)

Volunteer Opportunities
One of our goals this year is to engage with our community, not just parents and families, but the larger Calais community. This school is part of the community and we want the community to come and be part of CES.
You may want to volunteer in the classroom, help us coordinate activities or chaperone trips, tap into a talent to teach our students, or generally be available to help where needed. We will welcome you all to Calais!
Work continues on the details for the Calais Volunteer Program as there are a few moving pieces that need to be completed, but we want you to let us know of your interest. Please put your name on our list by filling out the Volunteer Program Form.
