The JOY of the LORD is your strength! Nehemiah 8:10
Morning Devotion
Each morning at CCS is started with singing and scripture! This special time is led by Mr. Yearwood, faculty members, and volunteer students. Here are a few of the verses used this past week.
This week Mr. Yearwood continued our focus on the fruits of the spirit by speaking each day on JOY.
Prayer Countdown
Tuesday started our 4-week prayer countdown to Feed the Need! Throughout this project we will be asking teachers, staff, students, parents… everyone to pray over our school and for the lives of the people who will be ministered to.
This week we pray for Osmanpur Children’s Home, a refuge for boys in Bangladesh.
Our verse this week comes from 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
- Please pray that God uses our school for His glory throughout this project.
- Pray for the safety and comfort of the children in Osmanpur Children’s Home.
- Pray that God would direct our hearts in giving cheerfully.
We are thankful for you and we are thanking God for all of the blessings that He continues to provide CCS!
To Him be all the glory!

Looking Back on Last Week
Dress Up Days
Students in the lower school enjoyed two special dress up days this week for meeting their goals with our Feed the Need project. On Wednesday students were decked out in camo. On Thursday students dressed as different characters.
State Qualifiers
Congratulations to Elisabeth DeCicco and Garrett Scheer on qualifying for AHSAA State Cross Country!
The boys’ team placed 9th overall at today’s sectional meet.
We are proud of all the runners and their performance throughout the season!
Archery Returns
Archery has returned to CCS! Last year the students enjoyed learning and competing. Mrs. Nikki has begun the PE unit and the team will begin practicing after school soon. Watch for more announcements soon!
Career Presentations
8th grade students in Mrs. Griffin's Career Prep class presented about careers they have been researching. Each student started this task by researching the career they think they may be most interested in. On Thursday each presented their findings and gave some honest answers about whether or not they would pursue the career they thought they might want.
Fun at 4D Farm
On Friday, Mrs. Snow, Mrs. Rutherford, and Mrs. Frame's students enjoyed some time learning at 4D Farms.
Ballot Boxes
The journalism class has been preparing ballot boxes and ballots for Tuesday's election. While the nation casts their votes for the next United States President, CCS students will be casting votes as well in a mock election. Lower school students will vote during their PE classes and upper school students will vote at lunch. The journalism students will tally results and report the results in their next publication.
Accreditation Renewal Update
This year is the accreditation renewal year for CCS. Over the past 6 months data has been collected, meetings held, and self-analysis completed. On Thursday the accreditation team held a meeting with the Cognia leadership advisors. The meeting went well and we expect to hear results of our status within the coming months.
Maintaining our accreditation status is important. This status affirms the quality of education that CCS provides. Accreditation is also a requirement for the CHOOSE act which will provide an opportunity for families to receive assistance for paying for school expenses.
Thank you for the prayers that have already been prayed and please continue to pray for our school to find favor in this process.

Looking Ahead
Veterans Day Program
We are excited to formally announce our Veterans Day Program will take place Friday, November 8th at 8:15 AM. It will be held in the sanctuary at Desperation Church. 510 5th St SW, Cullman, AL 35055. This program will feature performances by students in grades PreK through 12th grade in honor of the men and women who have served our country. The program will start at 8:15 but we want to encourage our students to arrive by 7:55. This will allow for everyone to get settled and take bathroom breaks, etc.
We hope you are already making plans to attend! All veterans and/or active service members who are connected with CCS in any way are invited to attend as well as parents, grandparents, and other friends and family.
Students will wear uniforms. No Carolina blue. Red accessories may be worn but no hats. Think patriotic.
STUDENTS PreK-5th
All students PreK-5th will be walked in by parents/special guests at Desperation Church. Students should stop by the restroom then be checked in with their teacher. Teachers will be waiting to receive students in their designated seats in the sanctuary. (There will be NO before care available.)
STUDENTS 6th-12th
Students 6th-12th grade can enter the front doors of Desperation Church, stop by the restroom, and meet their homeroom teacher in the sanctuary.
Parents will be able to check students out after the program to start their long weekend early. There will be no penalty for this absence. Students staying for the remainder of the school day will ride the bus back to their designated campus. Carlines at Beech will then run as usual starting at 2:15 and 2:55. Upper pickup will be the at same time as well.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We can't wait to showcase our talented students and show gratitude to our veterans.
