Summer School - Open to all Middle School Students
PTA Officers needed for 2023-24 School Year
CBE Families
The PTA Nomination's committee is seeking officers for the school year 2023-2024. Without the volunteers we wouldn't be able to do Teacher's conference meals, donations to the library, end of year picnic, field trips for the classrooms etc. If you would like to self-nominate for any of the following officer positions, please contact Darla Bakko @ miss_verbitsky@hotmail.com All nominations need to be received by Monday April 3rd.
Section 1. The president shall
a. Preside at all meetings of this PTA;
b. Confirm that a quorum is present before conducting any business at any meeting of the association;
c. Serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee;
d. Coordinate the work of the officers and committees of this PTA in order that the purposes may be promoted;
e. Be authorized to sign contracts that have been approved by the executive board.
f. Send the names and contact information of the officers to the North Dakota PTA by May 15th of each year;
g. Be listed as the principal officer and be authorized to sign tax documents;
h. Direct the treasurer to complete and file all necessary tax documents;
i. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the executive board.
Section 2. The vice president shall
a. Act as aide to the president;
b. Perform the duties of the president in the president’s absence or inability to serve;
c. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.
Section 3. The secretary shall
a. Record the minutes of all meetings of the Carl Ben Eielson Middle School PTA;
b. Be prepared to read the records of any previous meetings;
c. File all records;
d. Have a current copy of the bylaws;
e. Maintain a membership list which shall not be released to outside interests;
f. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.
Section 4. The treasurer shall
a. Have custody of the funds of this PTA
b. Keep full and accurate accounts and records of the funds of this PTA as shall be sufficient to establish the items of gross income receipts and disbursements including bank statements, receipts, budgets, invoices paid, paid receipts and canceled checks in accordance with the record retention policy. This also includes specifically the number of its members, the dues collected from its members and the amount of dues remitted to North Dakota PTA.
c. Make disbursements as authorized by the president, executive board, or this PTA in accordance with the budget adopted by this PTA;
d. Checks shall be signed, or debit card charges shall be initiated, by only the Treasurer or President (signatories) with prior written approval from one additional elected officer in keeping with the approved budget or budget amendments;
e. Provide a written financial statement at each meeting;
f. Present an annual report of the financial condition of the organization during the May general meeting;
g. Submit the books annually for a financial review at the close of the PTA’s fiscal year. The review should be completed before the first executive board meeting of the next fiscal year. The review should be conducted by a financial review committee or auditor selected by the executive board. None of the signatories (authorized signers) on the PTA’s accounts (for the fiscal year being reviewed) can be on the review committee. The treasurer shall be available to answer any questions that arise;
h. Report the findings of the annual financial review to the executive board;
i. Complete and file all necessary tax documents as directed by the president;
j. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.

PTA Healthy Minds Grant - Week 2
Our participation in the National PTA’s Healthy Minds program continues this week! We are highlighting resources focused on learning more about Defining SEL (Social Emotional Learning) and how to build those skills at home: After reviewing these resources we hope gained a better understanding of what Social Emotional Learning really is and how these skills can help your child thrive. For additional resources on building SEL skills, you can visit the Healthy Minds webpage for a more expansive library of resources!
PTA HEALTHY MINDS GRANT - WEEK 3
This week we are introducing our Self-Awareness resources as we continue participating in the National PTA’s Healthy Minds program. These resources are focused on learning more about Self-Awareness and how to manage those skills at home.

The resources, videos and toolkits provided this week make for a quick way to connect as a family during a busy week. If you are interested in learning more about Self-Awareness skills, the Healthy Minds webpage has a variety of additional resources to offer.
Storm Make-up Days
Remote Learning for Future Snow Days (if needed)
Any additional snow days this year will be remote learning days for all Carl Ben Eielson students. During remote learning days we will follow our regular class schedule with teachers zooming with students to start each class period to provide instruction. Students will then have work to complete independently.
Attendance will be based on student attendance to zoom meetings and/or work completion.
To access remote learning students will be logging into their Canvas account and teachers will have zoom links and other information posted to their class pages.
Please have a conversation with your child about the importance of bringing their PLD (computer) home and other materials they may need each night as we finish out winter and look toward spring.
Recurring newsletter information
Winter Meals Program
PowerPlate Meals, in partnership with the Forward Foundation, will be handing out take-home meals for students in Fargo Public Schools. Each meal bag will include five frozen Power Plate Meals. Meals will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
The program began on Tuesday, January 24 and continues through May. Distribution will occur every other week with distribute from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesdays at Madison Elementary School, Wednesdays at Jefferson Elementary School, and Thursdays, at Ed Clapp Elementary School. Pick up locations will be at the front door of each school.
CBE Tardy Procedure
CBEMS Tardy Procedure
- Students with 4 or more tardies in one week will be assigned a 40-minute detention before or after school. Administrators will talk with each student, determine the best date/time and hand them a detention reminder note. *The Bronco team will handle their own detentions and allow 3 tardies/week before a detention.
- Detentions are Tuesdays and Thursdays before and after school.
- Morning Detention times are 8:00 – 8:40 am
- Afternoon Detention times are 3:30 – 4:10 pm
AD-Ventures: Seasonal Activities for Kids
AD-Ventures for Kids is for youth in grade levels K-5.
AD-Ventures for Teens is for youth in grade levels 6-8.
