Please return form and payment to the Band Room drop box within a week of receipt. Lost your form? We can issue another, or you can print the PDF from the Band website. Huge THANK YOU to all the parents and students for your help with Junior High Night!!!!! It was a rousing SUCCESS and a very positive experience for everyone involved!!!!!

A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers that helped with the RCG PreGame dinner on Friday! We had a few extra guests for dinner LOL! and everyone stepped up and the meal went great! We served over 400 people Friday night, and I am proud of the RCG parents that stepped up and helped make dinner a success. A special thanks to our grillmasters, Bart Scoble and Doug Bromm! They grilled over 400 hot dogs!
Our next pregame meal is on Friday, September 20th (Homecoming). 8 of 10 volunteer spots are filled so far!

RCG BANDCOMING, Friday, September 27th
The students have decided that even with the opportunity to attend the school’s Homecoming dance this year, that they still want to have BANDCOMING because they had so much fun last year! This event is OPTIONAL and funded solely by those students choosing to attend. We are going to have pizza, drinks, and snacks. Tickets are $7 to cover food and decorations. The event will take place on Friday, September 27th from 6-9pm. This is the day before our first competition, so we don’t want them out too late the night before! We will hand out ticket order forms this week in class and have them available in the band room for students.

Attention all Contest Bus Chaperones and Uniform Volunteers!
We need everyone to help with props during contest days! So, if you have signed up to be either a bus chaperone or a uniform helper, you will be helping with props at all of our contests. Props are round bases and tall cylinders, which will need to be assembled and placed on the field. The adult volunteers will be moving the props to the field, so the students can make an impressive entrance to the competition field together.
If you feel you cannot physically help with props, please let me know immediately! We may have to remove you from the sign-up and let someone else have the slot.

HSE Bands Chaperone Coordinator
RCG Secret Buddy Bags
We do a program during the contest season called Secret Buddies. This is optional but the majority of kids participate. Your child will be assigned a secret band buddy by the drum majors and each contest day, the members bring a small bag with either a snack, a drink, candy and/or a toy for their band buddy. You do not have to include all the items from the list in each bag, each time. All items must be small and able to fit into a small bag. Each bag needs to have the band members buddy name listed clearly on the outside.
The bags are distributed on competition days, anonymously, so the kids have fun all season trying to guess who their secret buddy is. Don’t spend a lot of money on this. The toys are typically dollar store items that the kids think will cater to their buddy’s personality. Everyone has a laugh at some of the goofy things they get. If your student signs up for the program, please see that they participate and follow the rules, as no one wants to have a neglected buddy. If your student forgets, then their buddy does not get a bag. Please contact me with any questions.

Marching Band Schedule Details/Minor Tweaks
- Saturday, September 21st – We are going to adjust this schedule to go 8am-2:30pm instead of 9-4. This will enable students to have more time to prepare if they are planning on attending the Homecoming Dance that evening! Lunch will be from 11:00-11:45am.
- Saturday, October 12th – We had considered going to the Center Grove competition this day, as we have in the past. However, with BOA at Ball State University the previous Saturday (10/5) and ISSMA Regionals the following Saturday (10/19), AND with it being the first day of Fall Break, we feel that it is in the students’ best interest to rehearse that day instead of go to a contest. It is CRITICAL that every student is in attendance at this rehearsal because the following week’s contest, ISSMA Regionals, is a state qualifying competition! We are going to rehearse from 8:00am-2:30pm on 10/12 to accommodate families that might be driving out of town for Fall Break. Lunch will be from 11:00-11:45am.
- Remember that it is also CRITICAL that we have all students in attendance at the Fall Break rehearsals on Thursday, October 17th and Friday, October 18th (9am-6pm) in preparation for ISSMA Regionals!

Final RCG Payment Due September 15th
Please make sure your student’s account is paid up-to-date. As a reminder, the final payment of $275 will be due September 15, 2019. Payments can be made on the HSE HS Bands’ website or by check payable to HSE Royal Guardians dropped off in the Drop Box in the band room. Are You Signed Up?
A Test Remind message was sent out last Thursday. If you did not receive one, then please make sure you have signed up. Remember that the links changed and if you signed up the first time, you needed to sign up again using the new links.
We use Remind to communicate information quickly to parents such as expected return time from a contest, so you know when to head over to pick up your student as needed.
