Baldwin Bobcats
Dear Baldwin Families,
We hope this message finds you well and brimming with excitement as we begin a new school year together. It’s truly a joy to welcome you and your child back to our school community. As we open the doors for another academic year, we’re filled with anticipation for the many opportunities for learning, personal development, and memorable experiences that lie ahead. Our team is eager to support your child’s educational journey and to create an environment where every Bobcat feels valued and inspired.
Our dedicated staff is focused on providing educational experiences that support the diverse needs of each student. We believe that a strong emphasis on social emotional learning and academic excellence, coupled with a supportive and encouraging environment, is key to helping every child thrive. In addition to our academic priorities, we place a high value on the safety of our students. To ensure a secure environment, we carry out daily safety checks, closely monitor all visitors to the school, and conduct regular safety drills. These measures are designed to provide peace of mind and create a safe space where students can focus on learning and growing.
Please remember to check in at the office with a valid ID every time you visit the school. This helps us maintain a secure environment for everyone and ensures that we can quickly assist you if needed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Our dismissal process has been running smoothly, but we want to remind you of a few things we could use your help with to make it even more efficient. If your child is a car rider, please display your family number prominently in the window of your vehicle to help us manage pickup quickly. If your child needs assistance with a seatbelt or car seat, they should either walk up or you can pull forward past the line to assist them. If your child is an independent walker, remember that you need to wait for them off campus or allow them to walk home. If your child is an escorted walker you must know and share your family number with a staff member when you arrive. Please don’t ask them to look a number up for you as this is part of our safety measures. Any changes to your child’s transportation should be communicated to the office by 2:00 PM. Please avoid emailing or calling your child’s classroom teacher about transportation changes. For added convenience, you can download our transportation app to track your child’s bus in real-time. The WheresTheBus app is free and provides information about a student's bus location and arrival time at their stop. It's available on any device with internet access, including smartphones, tablets, and computers. To use the app, download it from the App Store or Google Play, and then log in with AISD Portal credentials.
Please note that dogs are not allowed on campus at any time, including during drop-off or pick-up, even if they are on a leash. We also recently had a skunk near the front door, so please be vigilant in the mornings to keep everyone safe.
If your child is sick, please email us at Baldwin@austinisd.org to communicate their absence or fill out this form. For extended absences, notify the classroom teacher and provide a doctor’s note, which can be dropped off at the office or uploaded at the same link. Consistent attendance is crucial for your child’s learning and our district funding, so please avoid scheduling non-essential appointments or trips during the school day.
If you are interested in being a volunteer, you must have a free yearly required background check completed. Please note, volunteer registration for Austin ISD has changed. We will now by using Voly. You can get signed up at https://austinisd.voly.org. Once you register through Voly you will receive an email to complete the background check which can be processed as quickly as 5 minutes and a max of 5 days. If you are only coming for one event and staying with the class you do not need to complete this process (ex guest reader), but if you are volunteering regularly, need to be able to walk around the campus unescorted, plan on being a WatchDOGS or are chaperoning an event, please complete the background check.
We also encourage you to join our PTA (membership link) and be an active part of our school community. The first PTA meeting will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to our school’s success. See below for information about their guest speaker. We look forward to seeing you there and hearing from our amazing PTA!
Thank you for your continued support. We’re eager to embark on this school year together and create many memorable experiences for our students. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
Warm regards,
Jennifer Murray

Morning safety patrol students may enter the building at 7:10 to prepare for their shift.
As a reminder, all other students must wait until 7:15 to enter the building. Please have your student(s) remain in the car until a safety patrol or adult opens the car door for them. Students may not be left unattended at any time.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our campus safe!
Subs-R-Us
Are you interested in being a parent substitute at Baldwin? Subs-R-Us is a great way for parents to substitute in their child's classroom for a variety of reasons (e.g.: the teacher is testing students in the hallway while the parent is subbing in the classroom).
The process is simple:
Review the Subs R Us slideshow
Print slide 11 and fill it out - turn this in to the front office for Mrs. Reue
Go through the APIE Background check
Here is the link to register for volunteering
If you need help with the background check, please reach out to Angie Vega.
We will then add you to our database so that you are noted as an approved Baldwin parent sub. Please feel free to reach out to Amber Reue (Amber.Reue@austinisd.org) if you have any questions.

Start with Hello Week
Baldwin Web Store
We are kicking off an exciting year in the Baldwin Library! Classes will visit the library on a bi-weekly basis. Pre-K through 2nd graders will also have visits from the Bobcat Book Bus in the classrooms for checkouts on their non-library visit weeks. Third through fifth graders have open checkout times daily. Teachers will share the library visit schedule with you in your classroom newsletter. Parents are also welcome to set up library accounts and check out materials.
Keep up to date with library events, use our library catalog to search for books, and consider donating items from our Library Wishlist by visiting the library website.
Birthday Books
It's time to purchase Birthday Books! Celebrate your child's special day by donating a book to the Baldwin Library. After donating, your child will be invited to the library to choose a book from the special birthday bookshelf. We will add a commemorative bookplate to the inside cover and your child will have the option to be the first student to check out the book. This is a great way to celebrate your child as well as help fund author visits and book purchases for the library. Please visit this link to purchase a birthday book.
Technology
New Technology Responsible Use Agreements will be sent home in Wednesday folders. Please review these expectations with your child and sign and return the signature sheet to your child's teacher
Baldwin School Counselors Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Pruet are thrilled to be here to support the students and families this year.
As we gear up for the new academic year, we're seeking your assistance. Please take a moment to fill out a brief survey to help us understand how best to support you and your child. Our counselors are eager to support your child and their families. This will help us plan future programming.
In response to our initial data from May, we are thrilled to partner with Baldwin PTA to welcome Melissa Fleming, LPC-S, RPT-S, CCST-T, to the Friday, September 13 PTA meeting. She will talk about how stress and anxiety show up in our children and useful strategies we can use to help support them.

Meet Millie
Mrs. Murray/Principal
I am thrilled to be the principal of Baldwin Elementary School, guiding this fantastic community into the 21st century as we explore, imagine, and create daily. With over 30 years in education, I’ve taught grades 3 through 6 for over 15 years, served as an instructional facilitator for 3 years, and spent 14 years as an administrator. It’s a truly rewarding role, and I eagerly look forward to coming to work each day.
My family and I have journeyed through Austin, Chicago, and Plano before settling back in Austin, now residing in Dripping Springs, Texas. I’ve been happily married to my husband, James, for 31 years. We have three wonderful children: our eldest, Garrett, lives in San Antonio after graduating from Texas Tech University and is set to marry his finace, Sophie in November 2024. Our middle child, Zachary, is 24, currently in Steamboat Springs, Colorado working and embracing a magical experience. Our youngest, Mackenzie, is 22 and a senior playing volleyball at Valdosta State University in Georgia. James and I cherish every opportunity to support her at games, knowing these moments are fleeting.
Mrs. Reue/Assistant Principal
I’m Mrs. Reue, your Assistant Principal, and I am so excited to be starting my third year as a part of the Baldwin Family! Education is my passion. I have been in education for 25 years and have taught third, fourth, and fifth grades. For 12 of these years, I had the honor of working with Texas State University in the Teacher Fellows Graduate Program coaching first-year teachers. Within these years, I mentored 39 first-year teachers, kindergarten through fifth grade, so I am familiar with all of the elementary grade levels. I have also worked in professional development for novice teachers and their mentors. I enjoy seeing people learn, grow, and accomplish their goals. There will be many celebrations as you learn, grow, and accomplish your goals too! Elementary school is the best! I am so glad to be a Baldwin Bobcat!
My family is very important to me. You will often hear me tell stories about things going on in my life, so I would like to introduce you to my family: My husband, James, is a software engineer and my best friend. We like to hang out together and cheer on our kids. My son Cade is in high school. He loves video games, playing golf on his high school golf team, and playing the saxophone in the marching band. My daughter Camille is also in high school. She is on the high school golf team, in their cosmetology program, and excels at being athletic. My Golden Retriever, Daisy, loves to swim in the pool, go on long walks, and sleep! She also loves people, cats, and other dogs.
I am honored to work with the families and staff of Baldwin Elementary as we partner to support students in a learner-centered environment where all children can reach their potential.
Mrs. Eubanks/Assistant Principal
Hello! My name is Jamie Eubanks and I am incredibly excited to join the Baldwin family as the new assistant principal and partner with such an amazing staff and community. This will be my 20th year in education and I know it is going to be a great school year!
I have been in elementary administration as an assistant principal and principal for the last 9 years and look forward to continuing my journey as a Bobcat!
The rewards I have received in my years of education for serving children have been countless. Working with kids is such a joy and I could not imagine any other profession. I truly feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with young minds every day. It is a passion of mine and I am ready to share memories with each of you this year!
My husband and I met at Texas State and we have two beautiful children, Colby (2nd grade) and Chance (6th grade). We enjoy spending time with family, watching sports, being outdoors and attending college football games. We also have two pups, Zoey and Diesel who are just as much a part of the family as the kiddos!
Mrs. Chapman/Counselor
Hello! I am thrilled to be returning to Baldwin Elementary as a school counselor serving Bobcats. I will be serving grades 2, 3, 4 this school year. I am passionate about empowering students to become independent in self-regulation and positive self-talk building on their strengths. I value partnering with parents/guardians to help students succeed. My family and I are big Longhorn fans! My husband and I have two boys ages 14 and 10, and a sweet dog named Millie. Millie is a certified therapy dog and comes to Baldwin with me 2-3 days a week to support students. I have over 20 years of experience in elementary education across many grade levels. I look forward to supporting your student to reach their utmost potential this school year. Please reach out if there is anything I can do to help support your student have a great year!
Mrs. Pruet/Counselor
My name is Kaitlyn Pruet and this will be my second year at Baldwin Elementary as a School Counselor. I am so excited to be back with the Bobcat family! I will be serving PreK, Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grade students this school year. This will be my 9th year in education. Prior to being a counselor, I was a teacher. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and, most recently, 5th grade. I graduated in last year with my Masters in School Counseling from Texas A&M University. Gig 'em! I am married and welcomed my first baby last October! Her name is Ivy and she is the best! In my free time, I like to hang out with my family and my dog, Waylon, spend time outside, and watch movies.

I am married and have two children, a daughter who is 18 and is off to college this year, and a son who is 15 and a sophomore in high school. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, reading, listening to live music, and cooking. I'm genuinely grateful to have the opportunity to work with such exceptional students, and I'm looking forward to another amazing year!
Mrs. Hively/Librarian
My name is Kelley Hively and I am proud to be a founding member of Baldwin Elementary School. I've been privileged to teach both K-5th Special Education, 5th grade English Language Arts, and be a certified librarian in AISD for the past sixteen years.
