Hello LLR families,
It seems the nice weather is finally upon us and hopefully here to stay. With the nice weather, more students are riding their bikes and scooters to school. This is a great time to review bike safety and remind students to walk their bikes or scooters when on school property.
Lakeland Ridge School had an evacuation drill this afternoon. Students did an excellent job leaving the building in a safe and timely manner. As this was a drill, there is no action parents/guardians need to take. In the event of an evacuation in response to an actual incident, we would provide information on any actions parents/guardians need to take to co-operatively support our emergency response procedures. An evacuation is used when it is unsafe to remain inside the building. In an evacuation, students and staff exit the building and gather at a designated location outside the school. In the event students and staff must remain outside for an extended period of time, they may move to our alternate indoor evacuation center. Many field trips are scheduled over the next few weeks. Please check the school calendar to stay informed on what is happening at the school and when your child may be attending a field trip.
Class pictures will take place on June 8 for Kindergarten Group A and our Grade 5 classes. Remaining classes will have class pictures on June 9. Pictures are scheduled to be outside, weather permitting.

Grade 3 - 6 Track and Field Day
Our Grade 3 to 6 Track Meet is on Thursday, June 16 and the school will be offering an optional BBQ lunch. All food must be pre-ordered - we are unable to accept orders at the event. If you are interested in ordering a BBQ hotdog lunch for your child, please sign into the ParentPortal, select your child’s student fees, and then select and complete the LLR Gr. 3-6 BBQ form.
The BBQ form is available to accept orders until Sunday, June 12 at 10:00PM. No late orders will be accepted. We are unable to meet any individual dietary preferences. In the event students are absent from the Track Meet, no refunds for food orders will be issued and no alternate arrangements for BBQ food pick-up will be accommodated. In the event the Track Meet is cancelled due to inclement weather, Grade 3 to 6 students will receive their BBQ lunch order in their classroom.
Adult volunteers are still needed, please contact your child's teacher if you are able to help out.
Tools For School
EIPS has once again partnered with the United Way for the 2022-23 Tools for School campaign. Annually, Tools for School provides backpacks and school supplies to students in kindergarten through Grade 12 whose families have limited resources. If you’re a parent or know a parent who needs access to the program, contact the school directly. Staff will discretely provide the backpack to the child at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.
Alternatively, if you’d like to donate to the program, you can pick up a few extra supplies when you’re out shopping for back to school. Drop-off boxes are located at the EIPS Central Services office, all Staples locations and various businesses in the community. Any supplies donated within the community are invested back into the region.
