Building Beat: Week of April 3, 2023
PD: PD is on Monday, April 3rd from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. @ DHS. (Agenda and room assignment info was shared in a separate email. )
Agenda:
7:30-8:00 - all certified staff*
DHS Auditorium - ACC 3.0 presentation by Curriculum Coordinators
8:15-10:30
Assigned rooms - Curriculum Work
Each group will be working on one of the following steps:
Standards Study- Identify Priority Standards
Course Outline- Map out the units
Unit Creation- Determine knowledge and skills needed for success and create common assessments
Data Analysis- Review data and make adjustments to the curriculum
An end of PLC Exit ticket will be completed by the room facilitator with input from the group
Records Day: Records Day is on Monday, April 3rd following PD and teachers may work from home.
Report Cards: Each student should have comments written that are specific to them and their progress.
All Comments and Grades are due by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4th. They should be emailed to all parents/guardians no later than Wednesday, April 5th by 4:00 PM, following the steps below.
To email a PDF version of the report card to families through Synergy:
1) Complete the report cards
2)Go to Synergy and hover over the "report card tab"
3) Next select students
4) Once in students, select the first student in alphabetical order.
5) In their report card select the "white tab" in the top right-hand side that says view report card. Click on that.
6) Report cards will download.
7) Now select print and select print as a PDF
8) Save the PDF under the child's name in a folder.
9) then continue on to the next student and repeat steps 5-8 until all report cards in a PDF format have been saved.
10) Once all students have been saved, return to the synergy home screen.
11) Once there you will click on one student at a time by clicking on their picture.
12) The 7th selection down says communicate. This will allow you to email the PDF as an attachment directly to that student's family.
13) Repeat steps 11 and 12 until all report cards have been mailed out.

Child Study: Grade 3 & 4 will meet for Child study on Wednesday, April 5th in my office. Schedules were shared electronically.
March Table of Honor: Congratulations to the following students who earned Table of Honor for March: Ashlyn Roberts, Sophia Rhinebolt, Lola Frost, Isabella Wheaton, Mia Gokey, Sophia West, Kenzi Calvin, Ellie Baumgart, Sophia Sieberts, and Jon Eastridge.
Earth Day: Our Earth Day flyer will be going home on Tuesday. Please see information below for times!
Ma's Spa: This year we will have Ma's Spa for Kindergarten, Second, and Third Grade. It will be on Friday, May 12th. I will add this to the tail end of our next staff meeting agenda to go over details with Kindergarten, Grade 2 & 3 teachers!
Hill Family Picnic/Dance: This has been on our calendar, but sharing as a reminder that our picnic/dance is scheduled for Thursday, June 1st from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This is one of our staff evening events We will go over details at our next staff meeting, I just wanted to put it on everyone's radar since things are quickly approaching!
Popcorn Day: Our May popcorn date has been changed from May 19th to May 12th.
DEF Professional Scholar Award Deadline approaching!
The Davison Educational Foundation is offering up to $1,500 this year to a staff member interested in pursuing a unique professional development opportunity. The deadline to apply is April 28. The winner will be announced at the End of the Year Staff Luncheon.

Rules:
1. The Professional Development opportunity must take place outside the school day.
2. The Professional Development opportunity must be unique and something an educator wouldn't ordinarily participate in. For example, requests for annual conferences, classes for college credit, vacation travel, etc., will not be considered.
3. The Professional Development opportunity must be related to the subject that the educator teaches.
4. New experiences are encouraged!
5. The DEF Professional Scholar must be willing to facilitate related professional development opportunity activities within Davison Community Schools after the event.
6. Standard district professional development guidelines apply. Please refer to the teacher handbook for details.
7. Grant funds will be used only to reimburse expenses incurred. Funds may be used to cover conference fees, lodging, food, travel, mileage, and any costs associated with the Professional Scholar opportunity.
8. Deadline for applications is 9 a.m. Friday, April 28. The winner will be announced at the End-of-The-Year Staff Recognition Luncheon..
Please note that this is not a Davison Community Schools Professional Development Program. The Davison Educational Foundation is solely responsible for funding and selecting the DEF Professional Scholar Award.

Please note:
- Deadline this year is April 14.
- If your application is related to Technology, you must contact Technology Supervisor Chris Lesko who will advise you on the purchase and complete the purchase requisition. The request must also be signed by Director of Curriculum Dr. Angela Hards in addition to your building principal.
- Winners will be announced at the End of the Year Staff Recognition Luncheon Wednesday, June 21.
