Around the School Spotlight

During our kindergarten orientation this week, we were able to welcome our newest Hawks View students and their families for 90-minute sessions. During this time, families were able to tour the school, meet staff, learn about school routines, eat in our cafeteria and play on our playground. We LOVED having this time with our new students and families.

It’s been a busy but fun start of the school year here! Meet & Greet was a wonderful way to re-connect and provided students with some comfort prior to the first day of school. We look forward to another year of partnership with our families and growth with our students!

Parking Lot Exit Lane

Please be sure to follow the arrows in the parking lot. We only have one way to exit during drop off and pick up, the lane along the tennis courts is two way traffic. Please do not move to the left lane to pick up your 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader until you have cleared the intersection.

Our drop-off and pick-up lines are always busier and more hectic the first few weeks of school. We appreciate your patience with our staff and help in following procedures so that we can enter/exit students safely and efficiently.

Tardies

Expectations

Regular attendance is expected of all students. For detailed expectations, please see the Sherwood Student Body Handbook, page 7, for complete information.

Tardies

The school day starts at 7:55 am. Late arrivals will need to check into the office and receive a tardy slip before heading to class. When students enter the classroom late, it causes a disruption to the learning environment for everyone. It is essential that all children arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Our team will monitor and address attendance throughout the year and communicate with families.

If your student will be absent for any reason, or there is a change in after school plans, please inform the office. Teachers generally do not have time to check emails during the day, or sometimes have a substitute in the classroom.

Passport Club ~ Sign up for the Passport Club! Deadline to turn the form in is September 13th. The Club has its first meeting on September 25th. Please see the flyer below for more information. Flyers will be coming home via backpack mail next week.

Volunteering - Background Checks Required

If you are planning to volunteer in your student's classroom, help with classroom parties, or chaperone field trips, you will need to complete a background check first. Background checks take 7-10 working days to clear, so plan ahead and complete the process now! A new background check is required each year. Don't delay, please visit our District website to fill yours out today!

All volunteers will need to sign in on our volunteer computer on arrival. You will need to have a HelpCounter account in order to do so. Visit our PAC website HERE, and learn how to create a new account, or update an existing account. You will also see many of the volunteer opportunities available to you, as well as expectations for our volunteers.
