Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update

Welcome to the first week of the 2024-25 school year! We are excited to team-up with our students, parents, and community to make our Eagle Canyon dreams work.

Thank you to all who attended our Meet Your Teacher on Friday. Our teachers, staff, and PTA made it a fantastic event. It was so good to see you all. Your excitement for the new school year was contagious.

PASTRIES WITH THE PRINCIPAL

One of our favorite traditions is inviting parents to have pastries with the principals on the first day of school. This is an opportunity for me to get to know our community. Please join me in the MPR at 8:00 a.m. if you do not have to run off to work. I would love to enjoy breakfast with you.

BELL SCHEDULE

The Bell Schedule remains the same as last year. It can be found on the Eagle Canyon website under the About Us tab.

The students will be able to go to the amphitheater beginning at 7:20 a.m. For those students who will eat breakfast, breakfast begins at 7:20 a.m. This is a great way to ensure your child gets to school on time.

Topics are listed alphabetically, so if you need attendance information, you can find attendance information located in section A. My favorite strategy to find something in a document is to use the magnifying glass to find a keyword.

STAFF MEMBER UPDATES

Eagle Canyon has four new staff members this year. We are excited for you to meet them if you haven't done so already.

• Ms. Merrick and Mrs. Shin joined our third-grade team.
• Ms. Alsky joins our fourth-grade team.

• Mrs. Mitchell joins our sixth-grade team.

CAMPUS UPDATES

Eagle Canyon is done with modernization. 😀 If you haven't stopped by the office, the layout is different. Stop by and say hello if you haven't done so already.

Since CW Driver is no longer at our site, parking on Eagle Canyon Drive will be more available. Please plan to park on the street rather than staff parking to ensure our staff can get to work.

The school district has plans to landscape many of the spaces on campus. We can't wait to see it all come together to make our school a beautiful place to be for our community.

2024-25 Eagle Canyon Theme: Teamwork makes the Dream work!

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mrs. Jenkins to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

Each week, I will publish our school's progress to maintaining a 96.5% attendance rate.

Traffic before school and after school can be heavy. Please plan to leave your house early to avoid the rush.

BUS GATE/EAGLE CANYON DRIVE

Teachers will only release students from the Bus Gate on Eagle Canyon Drive when parents are pulled up to the curb or walk with their children. Student safety is our top priority before and after school. Parents need to remain in their cars to keep traffic moving.

PARKING LOT

Students are not allowed to walk in the parking lot without an adult. Please do not ask them to walk to your car. You must accompany them to ensure their safety.

CROSSWALKS

Be sure to use crosswalks in the parking lot and on Eagle Canyon Drive. Teachers and staff will be on duty beginning at 7:40 a.m. to monitor crosswalks and stop traffic when needed.

CABANAS

A best practice to keep traffic moving is to ensure your child has all their belongings when you pull up to the cabanas. Please avoid having items in the trunk or back of the vehicle. Parents need to remain in their cars to keep traffic moving. As a safety measure, students should not have to walk in front of another car to get out of the car, get in the car, or get their belongings. Students can only exit/enter the car next to the curb.

The first couple of weeks is always more hectic in the parking lot. Please be courteous to your Eagle Canyon family. We all want everyone to remain safe while we work together to get over 600 students to and from school.

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If you are interested, please stop by the office, fill out the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need to have two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
