Career Awareness in February
This month we have been busy becoming aware of the Architecture & Construction, Health Sciences, and Human Services Career Clusters. Dorr Elementary and Eastwood Elementary learned about the Health Science Cluster.
We would like to thank Mrs. Willford and Penta's Cosmetology Lab for donating manikin heads, brushes, rollers and clips and teaching me how to show students the correct way to brush hair and use curlers. The students loved the activity! During the lessons we discussed the importance of trying each of the activities and skills because they may never know when they may use that activity in the future. Students were able to discover different work styles that they liked and did not like all while having fun!
We also were given the awesome opportunity to showcase our career kit activities during STEM Night at the Walley Game! Four of the student ambassadors from Small Animal Care came to help and did a fantastic job.

CAREER CONNECTIONS with Mrs. May's Junior High Students
Mrs. May's Career Connections class has been busy doing some amazing things! The 7th graders did job shadows of the Otsego Elementary School teachers for the Education Career Pathway. In order to gather background knowledge and prep for their job shadow experience, the students learned how to create and write a lesson plan for an elementary classroom. After their job shadow assignments, they created personalized Post It note holders for the teachers and delivered them to the elementary school office staff!
On top of all that, Mrs. May wrote the grant and received the OSLN STEM Grant money for $5,000. She will use the money to purchase 3D printers and materials that students can use for the STEM career pathway. Keep up the amazing work Mrs. May! We are so proud of what you are doing over at Otsego Junior High!
