Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
November 8, 2024
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
This edition of the PV Family Newsletter contains a lot of important information. Please take the time to read through it.
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, many of us reflect on what we are most grateful for. Would you like to show appreciation for one of our hard-working staff members? Please click this link to fill out a short Google Form and share why you are thankful for this person. A certificate will be generated, and we will hang it outside their classroom or workspace.
We are excited to welcome our 2nd and 4th-grade families and Veterans who have previously RSVP’d to our school on Monday for our Veterans Day Performance. Please note that the performance is at capacity, with no additional tickets or space available. No one will be admitted without a ticket. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. We will be live-streaming the event from the PCSD YouTube page that morning. If you want to join us virtually, please click THIS LINK on Monday at 10:00 am.
Please be aware that parking space is limited for those attending the performance. Please consider parking in the neighborhood behind Pleasant Valley Elementary and walking the path to the back entrance of the building. This will allow our veterans and individuals with physical limitations to have closer access. Please arrive no earlier than 9:40 am to allow our students to begin their day without interruption. The performance will start at 10:00 am and should be complete within an hour. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.
At next week's PTA meeting, Nicole Velez, Watershed Team Leader from the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, will present how the Baldwin Creek Dell Haven Basin construction and plan will impact Pleasant Valley Elementary and nearby homeowners. Please attend if you are interested in learning about this project. The meeting will be held at Pleasant Valley in the cafeteria (parking in the back) on Wednesday, November 20th, at 6:30 pm.
I am so proud of our volunteers! Thank you to the volunteers who helped with our Pumpkin Fun Run last week and the families who donated to our PEA/Student Council Food Drive! Thank you to our volunteers and all of the PV Families that participated in our first Family Cultural Night. Click here to see the pictures from the event!
If you hear something from your child that seems wrong, immediately check with your child's teacher. If safety is ever compromised, we will immediately notify all impacted families. Creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment is critical to educating and preparing our students to achieve their highest potential. The safety of your children will always be at the forefront. Our dedicated staff works hard to ensure your child is welcomed and dismissed safely daily, whether via car, bus, or walking.
I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley. We are very appreciative of all of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at (440) 843-3867 any weekday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

We look forward to seeing you at our Wing Ding Fundraiser this Saturday, November 9th! This is an adult only event that will be held at Rookie's from 7-10pm. See flyer below for additional information.
As part of the process outlined by the National PTA, we request feedback from families, administrators, and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Using community feedback, we will build an Excellence Action Plan to strengthen family-school partnerships. If you have not yet done so, please take 5-10 minutes to take this survey by clicking here!
Our next meeting will be on November 20th at 6:30pm in the PV cafeteria. We will have a special guest from the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. We hope to see you there! Follow us on Facebook for more updates.
Please use this RSVP form to register!
Attendance Procedures
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office at: 440-843-3867 no later then 9:50 am. If the absence requires a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor’s note when they return to school. Daily student attendance is a vital component of student academic success. With the requirements of House Bill 410, the state of Ohio requires each school district to communicate with families when a child is considered chronically absent.
For additional information on HB 410, please visit this link.
Birthday "Treats" & Invites
If a generous family would like their child to pass out a birthday treat, we recommend a non-edible one that can be passed out and sent home at the end of the day.
If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.
Gifts for students may not be delivered to the school. Balloon deliveries, gift baskets, flowers, etc. disrupt the educational process for all students. Birthday parties during the school day can not be accommodated.
Please check with the classroom teacher before sending any birthday or other treats to school for the class.
Some of our children have food allergies; therefore, all treats must be ready to pass out to the class, store-bought, labeled with ingredients, and individually wrapped.
Store-bought cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable.
Distributing invitations to non-school activities such as birthday parties is prohibited unless all students of at least one gender in the class are invited.
