WE NEED YOUR HELP
Welcome St. Andrew UMC to JDub
A few months ago, St. Andrew UMC approached us about the possibility of joining our Sunday night youth ministry on a continuing basis. We are happy to announce that this partnership will officially begin this Sunday, January 12th!
St. Andrew has around 10 youth, many of whom already attend school with our youth. We’re also thrilled to welcome three new adults—Cindy, Erin, and Amy—who will be joining our fantastic team of adult leaders.
JDub has always been a youth ministry for the community, and this partnership is another wonderful opportunity to expand our mission of sharing God’s love with the youth in our area.

JDub Youth Basketball Takes on the South Carolina “State Championship” in Camden!
JDub Youth Basketball Takes on the South Carolina “State Championship” in Camden!
This past weekend, 31 athletes and 9 coaches from JDub Youth Ministry hit the road to Camden, SC, to compete in what we’re calling the South Carolina UMC State Basketball Tournament (okay, technically, all the other teams were from Camden—but who’s keeping track?). Against packed gyms filled with roaring home crowds, our teams brought their A-game and gave it everything they had. Let’s break it down!
Middle School Boys: Heartbreaker in the Finals
Coached by the dynamic duo of Pat Hogan and Richard Misplay, the middle school boys dominated pool play with a 3-1 record. The championship game was electric, with a deafening crowd fueling the tension. Our boys led from the tip-off until the final minute, only to fall short by one basket in a nail-biter. It was a tough loss, but we couldn’t be prouder of how they battled under pressure!
High School Boys: A Steph Curry Moment Steals the Spotlight
The high school boys, led by the veteran coaching squad of Rick Fleming, Sam Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Gabriel Parrish, and Noah Boudolf, cruised through pool play undefeated. In the finals, they faced a sharpshooter channeling Steph Curry himself, draining 3s like they were going out of style. Despite a fierce comeback effort, cutting the lead to just 5 with two minutes to go, the clock ran out before they could complete the rally. Hats off to our boys for their resilience and never-give-up attitude!
Girls Team: Absolute Domination
Now, let’s talk about the unstoppable force that is our girls' team. Coached by Kristin Gaylard, Callie Costa, and Molly Boudolf, these ladies led every game from the opening tip and never looked back. The defensive rules (no full-court press when leading by 20) barely slowed them down as they forced turnovers and drained shot after shot. The highlight? One of our sharpshooters got so hot from beyond the arc that even the referee challenged her to hit another—swish! Championship secured, and another trophy is heading to JDub’s collection!
Final Score: JDub Youth Ministry - 1 Championship Trophy, Endless Memories
From buzzer-beaters to trophy ceremonies, this weekend was one for the books. Congratulations to all our players, coaches, and fans who made it unforgettable. JDub Nation, we’ll see you courtside for the next one!
