SGB Week Ahead

As we approach our much anticipated Christmas vacation at the end of this week, there are a few notes to share.

1. HOT LUNCHES

Pizza and Chicken Fingers Orders for the rest of the year will now be ordered online through the same platform you use for your tuition (Blackbaud - formerly Smart Tuition). There will NOT be hot lunches the first week back after vacation, but online orders are due online by FRIDAY 1/05. NOTE: Families can place their hot lunch order for the whole month.

2. SGB ALUMNI
If you are an SGB Alumni or know someone who is, please spread the word that you are invited to join us at SGB on Friday, 12/22 at 9am for our school-wide SING-ALONG and then stay to share in some hot chocolate afterwards. We would LOVE to see our SGB Alumni. CLICK HERE TO RSVP.

3. VIDEO TESTIMONIALS

In preparation for CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK in January, 2024, I am encouraging SGB Families who would like to create a short testimonial about your positive experiences with SGB to upload them using the link below. These videos will be used to spread the word about our wonderful school as many families will be deciding which schools they send their children to in the coming months.

Today is the third Sunday of Advent and the message JOY can be heard in the readings, as well as seen in the beautiful rose vestments and lighting of the pink candle at Mass.

Today during Mass at the Vatican, Pope Francis greeted all the children from the schools in Rome who brought their Baby Jesus figurines from their Nativities to be blessed.

He said,

"And now I greet you, dear children from the oratories and schools in Rome who have brought your Baby Jesus figurines to be blessed. I bless them. In blessing your Bambinelli, I ask that you pray before the Nativity scene for children who will experience a difficult Christmas in places where there is war, in refugee camps, in situations of profound misery. Thank you for doing this, and Merry Christmas to all of you and your families."

I loved this message to the children. What a beautiful tradition to bless the Baby Jesus figurine and then offer our prayers before the Nativity for children around the world who are less fortunate. Maybe this might be a tradition of praying in front of your family's nativity that you can introduce your children to this Advent Season.

May you find joy in your families this week as we prepare for the most wonderful gift of all.

Each weekly workshop will include drama, dance, voice and prep (preparation for the upcoming show). Students will rotate and work on each discipline in small groups.

All orders must be submitted the FRIDAY before a HOT LUNCH.

TO ORDER:

7. COMPLETE the transaction with your DEBIT or CREDIT CARD. (note: There is a service charge when using your credit card.)

Due dates are the FRIDAY the week before for both PIZZA and CHICKEN TENDERS.

VOLUNTEERS:

ALL VOLUNTEERS must complete the ADNY Safer Spaces Training online. CLICK HERE FOR THE TRAINING. Fill out the form and send it to the school prior to beginning the online training.

Many of you have already done this in years past for SGBS and if that's the case you don't need to repeat it. If you took the training at another ADNY school you'll need to repeat it for here.

1. CHANGES in DISMISSAL or ABSENCES

• Please complete the online form to notify the SGB Staff of any changes in your child's dismissal or if your child will be absent. Any child who is absent for 3 or more days must have a note from a doctor upon return. Thank you!

2. PARKING

• Please avoid parking in the teachers' parking lot. There is available parking in the church parking lot if you should arrive early. Please wait there until your child's drop off time.

3. VISITING SGB & NEW SIGN IN

• In an effort to keep our school safe and know when guests are in the building at all times, ALL adults will sign in when they enter.
