TWB - MAY EVENTS

Wonderful workout last Friday at our last movement camp. We were all so impressed with your ability to laugh and get back to work. That says a great deal about this groups work ethic moving forward. Due to this, we have shortened the END OF YEAR BAND CAMP and changed the date. See info below.

The Band Gala is a long standing tradition in TWB. EVERYONE attends. Normally it is free for all members; however, we did not have any fundraising this year, so there is a $10 cost for this year only.

• Cost: $10 per person (if you can't afford this, please see Mr. Dixon...he's got you covered)
• Can you invite someone not in band? - YES, they just can't be ugly.
• Attire: Groovy Informal or Chic Casual (both of these are made up terms so don't ask). You can wear anything from a tuxedo down to Hawaiian shirts. Just have fun with it.
• Location: WHS IMPAC Building
• Date: Saturday, May 8th

• EAT BEFORE YOU ARRIVE....food is complicated these days. Go have a picnic, eat with friends at your house or eat at one of our fine establishments in Wylie, like Whataburger.
• 7PM-8PM Awards / Video Slide Show (you will pick up your awards certificate as you arrive)
  
• 8PM Dancing - DJ is WHS Captain, Mr. Alexander
• 10PM Closing Time
• TICKETS: DEADLINE HAS PAST, so call and beg at this point

Lots of little date changes happening at the end of the year this year. This date moved a little. It is traditionally on a Monday; however, Senior Awards were moved to that same Monday this year, so in every effort to avoid conflicts with choir concert and all sorts of banquets, it was moved to a Wednesday.

WE NEED 2 PARENTS WITH TRUCKS TO PULL THE TRAILERS TO AND FROM FBW. SIGN UP BELOW.

This will be a come and go for our audience; however, we will keep students there for the entire concert to do our traditional senior recognition and grand finale with the entire band. Here are is the initial information.

Wylie High School Color Guard will have their end of year workshop May 17-20.

Our end of year band camp has been moved (by popular demand) to Tuesday, May 25th. Here are the reasons:

• Some traveling after the 25th
• Less need for more time (kids are doing GREAT)
• ...who wants to get up early the day AFTER school is out?

Here is the format for the Camp, Dinner, Meeting and Movie night:

• 3:00PM Music Rehearsal in IMPAC or Stadium
• 5:00PM Marching Rehearsal
• 7:00PM Hot Dog Cookout Family Dinner/ Mandatory student & parent meeting
• 8:30PM Outdoor Movie Night! (TWB owns a 25 foot blow up screen and a REALLY BIG sound system)

If you do not feel comfortable outdoors at the meeting, there will be a live ZOOM link and parent sign up forms sent prior to the event.

Who needs a physical?

As of the 4th of May, 2021 any student participating in Junior High or High School athletics along with High School Marching Band/Color Guard will be required to get a new physical every 2 years.

Where do I send the physical?

All students must complete a new participation packet online dated after the 1st of April 2021. The website is http://wylieisd.rankonesport.com

A physical must be completed on paper by a physician. Once completed it will need to be uploaded into RankOne for approval.

Physicals or Packets will not be accepted if dated before the 1st of April 2021.

Once you obtain a physical for your child you can upload a copy in RankOne. We recommend downloading the app on your phone and creating an account with RankOne. Once everything is complete and approved the account status will show cleared to participate.
