Engage. Educate. Empower.
Volume 3 ~ Issue 25 ~ Week of February 17, 2025
💛 Message from the Principal 💛
I hope you had a restful and enjoyable long weekend, Vikings!! This month (and year) seems to be flying by but it’s important to focus on what we can control—our attitude, effort, and commitment to learning. With progress reports coming out next Friday, now is the perfect time for students to reflect on their academic progress and make adjustments where needed. Whether it’s staying on top of assignments, asking for help, or setting personal goals, small actions can make a big difference.
While there may be outside distractions, I encourage you all to keep your focus on growth and improvement. Parents, we encourage you to check in with your child, celebrate their successes, and support them in areas where they can improve. Together, we can ensure that every student stays on track and finishes this quarter strong. Let’s commit to controlling what we can and making the most of every learning opportunity!
Let's make it a great week, Vikings!! 💛
🔔 Bell Schedule for Tuesday, February 18th 🔔
Non-Privilege List
Just a friendly reminder that we are using the Semester 1 final grades for the current Non-Privilege List. To refresh your memories, students on the NPL are not allowed to attend rallies, school dances, and other extra-curricular activities due to one or more of the following reasons:
Earning one or more D’s or F’s in Citizenship on the Semester 1 Report Card
Earning frequent disciplinary detentions
Suspended from school from November 1- December 20.
Excessive number of tardies (12+) from November 4-December 20.
Students remain on the NPL until the next round of grades, in this case, the next progress report is on February 28th. So, if you're on the NPL now, make sure you do what you need to do to get off of it by the time grades come out next Friday! If you have any questions, please ask an administrator.
Parents, join us at our last Viking Shadow Day of the Year!
Parents/Guardians, please come join us for our last Viking Shadow Day of the Year on Tuesday, February 18th. This will be an opportunity for parents to go into classes and touch base with teachers before the Quarter 3 Progress Report comes out on February 28th.

Credit Recovery - Check your Jupiter Messages!!
Our first round of Credit Recovery begins this week. Last week, students and parents received an email via Jupiter Grades if they were in need of Credit Recovery for US History, English 7, Math 7, and/or World Cultures. Please read the email carefully and reach out to the counseling center for more information. Students were also pulled into a meeting and given a contract for Credit Recovery last week.
Please note: Students are automatically enrolled in Credit Recovery so they should show up regardless of whether or not they turned in the contract.
Remember, in order to participate in the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, students must pass ALL of their classes!!! If you have any questions, please email our counselor at nancy.schmerbauch@sweetwaterschools.org.
🚧 MVA Construction Begins February 18th!! 🚧
The time has finally arrived...our construction project begins this week!! Effective immediately, access to the campus from the parking lots on Halo Street will be shut off. The VALOR sign in/out and drop off has been moved to the Thermal Avenue side of the Cafeteria (see more info below in VALOR section). Our normal student entrance and exit will remain the same, but over time, you'll soon see the demolition of the Counseling Center, Band Room, and 900 building. We are very excited for this new chapter, and while the construction zone will be a eye sore for about 14 months, we look forward to the end result! If you haven't already seen them, check out some photos below of our new buildings!
