Solar Eclipse Information
On Monday, April 8, 2024, parts of the United States will be experiencing a total solar eclipse. The timing of the eclipse will occur during our afternoon dismissal. Due to the damage that can occur to the human eye by looking directly at the eclipse, the Folsom School has purchased safe viewing glasses for all students and staff. These glasses can only be used to look directly at the sun.
During the school day, staff members will provide educational experiences and resources to students about solar eclipses, their significance, and the safety precautions necessary for observing them. It is the hope of the Folsom School that all students have an opportunity to view the eclipse, as it is a very infrequent event.
We understand that safety is of utmost importance, and we want to assure you that all necessary precautions will be taken to ensure a safe and enriching experience for our students.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to discuss the solar eclipse with your child at home, fostering their curiosity and excitement about the natural world around them.
If you would prefer that your child NOT view the eclipse, please plan to pick up your child prior to 2PM. Advanced notice via phone or email is encouraged. For questions, please contact the main office.
Sincerely,
Kevin Fricke
Superintendent

Classroom Highlights
As a culminating project, Mrs. Luskin's 2nd Grade students concluded their social studies unit on goods and services by creating their own products and advertisement. The students took on the roles of producer and consumer to sell or purchase goods. In connection to their math money unit, the students used play money to budget and pay for goods in addition to making change for customers as the producers! We had a great time!
Students in Ms. Dirkes‘ first grade class listened to the story, How to Catch a Leprechaun, then were challenged to plan, design, and construct, Leprechaun traps! This year the leprechaun was a little too wise and was able to escape all of the traps in classroom.
Check out photos from 7th Grade Science lab!
4th grade TAG has discovered King Tut's tomb! They are taking on the roles of Archaeologists, Historians, Medical Examiners, and Reporters to try to figure out the REAL reason the young King died. They will be learning about other Ancient civilizations as well in this unit.
On 3.14-Miss Eastern Shore, Samantha McConaghy visited 3rd grade to teach about pi day. She explained how to find pi, then we listened to a story and made bracelets that represent pi!
