Casa Grande Union High School District | November 2024
I hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving season. The last month has brought exciting news to our district.
We are proud to announce that Vista Grande has achieved a B grade, and Casa Grande Union is very close, just 36/100 of a point shy of the cutoff score for the same grade. Additionally, our Casa Grande Union Marching Band earned an impressive second place in the state marching band championship. Let’s also cheer on our fifth-seeded Girls Flag Football, alongside the eleventh-seeded Vista Grande Football and fourteen-seeded Casa Grande Union Football, as they head into the state playoffs. These teams have put in tremendous effort this year, and their hard work deserves recognition.
As we approach Thanksgiving gatherings in two weeks, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for being part of the CGUHSD learning community. Our mission remains steadfast: we are committed to ensuring that ALL CGUHSD students graduate college and/or career-ready. Our dedicated staff is fully engaged in this mission, working tirelessly to improve and address the needs of every student. Embracing change can be challenging, yet it is vital for growth. We appreciate your support during this journey and your constructive feedback on how we can better serve your families.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of our learning community. We recognize that you have choices when it comes to education, and we are truly honored that you place your trust in us to provide a high-quality education that lays the foundation for a bright future for your children.
May God bless your family this Thanksgiving season.

Dear CGUHSD Learning Community,
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Vista Grande High School has achieved an impressive "B" grade for academic performance for the 2023-24 school year. The Arizona Department of Education announced this remarkable accomplishment yesterday, marking a significant milestone for our institution. This is the very first time that Vista Grande has received a "B" under the current Arizona Learns grading system, which has been in place since 2017. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students and staff and sets a promising standard for future academic endeavors.
This year, the threshold for achieving a "B" grade was 65 points. Vista Grande surpassed this benchmark with a score of 67.45, marking a remarkable enhancement of fifteen points compared to the previous year's performance. This significant improvement reflects the dedication and hard work of both students and educators.
Congratulations to the Vista Grande Learning Community on this remarkable achievement! We are thrilled to celebrate this success with all of you and will provide more details soon about an upcoming community gathering to honor our collective efforts and accomplishments. Stay tuned for information on how we can commemorate this exciting milestone!
Casa Grande Union High School has recently achieved a notable advancement, increasing its score from 60.64 to 64.64 points, which earns it a "C" grade. This impressive four-point improvement brings the school tantalizingly close to reaching a "B" grade, falling just 0.36 points shy of the 65-point threshold. This progress is particularly commendable given the challenges often accompanying a year of administrative transition, highlighting staff and students' dedication and hard work during this transitional time.
Congratulations to the Casa Grande Union Learning Community!
PACE did not receive a grade this year as it was their first year of operation.
While we are pleased with our improvement this past year, our commitment remains unwavering. Our ultimate mission is that ALL of our students will graduate high school, college, and/or career-ready. We will reflect on our success and continue our efforts to achieve our mission, ensuring that every student's success is our success.
Why are we placing such a strong emphasis on this issue? Despite achieving grades of "C" and "B," we unfortunately had several students in our program who did not pass last year. Consequently, they did not graduate equipped for either college or a successful career. We are committed to a personalized approach to education, focusing on each student as an individual. Their achievements reflect our efforts, and we believe their success is intrinsically linked to our mission as educators.
Have a wonderful and safe week.
