We are Underway!
Greetings Webber Elementary Students and Parents,
Our students handled their first full week of school like champions! The excitement and energy in our learning community have truly been inspiring. As is typical during the early segment of the year, teachers have been very deliberate teaching and reinforcing routines, getting kids acclimated with life at Webber. I'm pleased to report that students have been handling everything in stride. On multiple occasions, staff have pulled me aside, complimenting the cooperation and citizenship they are experiencing this year. Great job students!
I'm proud to be your principal. The first few weeks have exceeded all of my expectations.
Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, our teaching staff sent out their annual "Curriculum Night" videos. The video format provides a number of advantages that appeal to parents. Be sure to review them, there's a wealth of good information within.
Early this week, it was terrific to see Webber repping Honolulu blue and silver in honor of the Lions victory. Same program this week - If we beat the Bucs, I hope to see our students decked out in their Lions gear on Monday! Speaking of football, the district recently sent out details recently regarding sporting events at Dragon Stadium. Varsity games tend to be a community event that attracts a large number of people. Be advised that elementary-aged children must be accompanied by an adult for entry.
A few reminders: Students should bring a healthy snack with them to school each day. If a student forgets, we do have a few options available in the main office in limited quantities. Also, please remember to communicate with the Webber staff when your child is going to be absent, including an email to Lyla Dyer (lyla.dyer@lok12.org).
Thank you so much for your support. Have a wonderful weekend.

Webber - Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures (Parents Driving)
Thank you for following the procedures that have been communicated previously. We encourage pick-ups to be conducted in the loop and parents should remain in their vehicle. If you are utilizing the lower parking lot, be mindful that our overflow traffic "snakes" through the lot. Be patient and wait for traffic to clear before attempting to back out. Those following the designed traffic pattern have priority.
Food Allergies
All of our classrooms will be peanut free and some classrooms will have additional allergens that will need to be avoided in the classroom. All foods will be allowed in the cafeteria, we will have designated protocols and spaces for children whose parents feel it is safest for their child to sit at an allergen free table. If your child has a food allergy, that requires them to have an Epi Pen at school, please make sure that the office has the appropriate medical documentation.
Medication - Medical Plans
Per LOCS School Board policy, the only medications that can be carried and self-administered by elementary students are metered dose inhalers and emergency injectable medications, if authorized in writing by both the student’s health care provider and parent/guardian.
Any other medication - whether prescribed or over the counter - must be administered by an authorized Webber Staff member and secured in the main office. District policies and applicable medication consent forms are available on the LOCS Health and Wellness webpage. Be advised that BOTH the respective medical professional (doctor) and parent are required to sign the form.
PSA - Garden Club / Webber Beautification Program!
Welcome back to the 2024 – 2025 school year!
Mrs. Burks and Mrs. Mucci are hoping to start a Garden Club/Webber Beautification program this year along with our fabulous PTO. Come join Mrs. Burks and Mrs. Mucci in late October/early November when families, students, and teachers could serve Webber by raking leaves, trimming trees and decorative grasses, picking up garbage, and pulling weeds. Be on the lookout for more information near the end of October!

Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
