Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! WOW! December sure went fast. Welcome back from what I hope was a restful break. In music we will jump right into some new music concepts.
Kindergarten will be learning about long and short sounds, and getting ready for our Rees Hoedown performance.
First grade will be performing 4 beat rhythms that we practiced reading and writing in the Fall.
2nd grade will be working on meter of music in groups of 3 with paper plate ice skating and waltzing.
3rd graders learned about form and patterns in music in the Fall, so they will be creating some drum and movement pieces.
4th graders will be starting recorders at the end of January! These are small flutes, and they will be encouraged to practice at home. I will be sending out some information soon.
Finally, I would like to give the Rees Choir students a shout-out! They brought some holiday cheer at the Administration Building on December 11th and performed at our Winter Showcase concert on December 19th. We had a great turnout and the kids were amazing. We will start choir again in January. Please stay tuned for information about
our Spring schedule!

Music Teacher
In dance class, students are diving into exciting new skills! 3rd and 4th graders are busy learning a fun hoedown dance in preparation for February, while all grade levels are currently focusing on jazz. 3rd and 2nd graders are exploring their creativity by working in groups to create their own mini dances. Meanwhile, 1st grade and kindergarten are laying the foundation of jazz by learning its essential movements and techniques!
Health and Technology
In class, students will be continuing our Microsoft Office to create PowerPoint presentations. They will learn key skills such as creating outlines, using bullet points and numbered lists, and utilizing tools like “Find & Replace.” After a demonstration, students will design their own PowerPoint presentations to explain why the body needs six essential nutrients.
In Health Tech class, students will explore body systems and brain development. They will also learn about the five senses—sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch—and discuss ways to care for both the body and brain to support mental health. We will focus on the importance of kindness and caring for others as part of maintaining our own well-being. Additionally, students will learn about oral health, including the benefits of daily brushing and flossing to keep their bodies healthy.
