Livingston County Schools
Dear Livingston County Community,
The school year is moving full steam ahead. Just a reminder that in order for students to get a top-quality education, it requires a commitment to being in the classroom every day. Being at school makes the biggest difference. We want to throw a big shout out to South Livingston Elementary and North Livingston Elementary for having great attendance recently with a remarkable 99% of students in attendance.

District News
Commissioner Robbie Fletcher Visit: On August 29, Livingston County Schools had the honor to host Kentucky Commissioner of Education, Dr. Robbie Fletcher. Dr. Fletcher had the opportunity to tour the school campuses as well as the new board office and Fort Star. He also got to see the wonderful improvements in learning spaces for our students. Most important, he witnessed what makes Livingston County so remarkable - our students and staff. With his extremely busy schedule we greatly appreciate him taking the time to visit our district. #AllinKY
Community Partners: On Friday, September 6, the Pennyrile District Health Department’s Meg Tolley delivered lunchboxes to all school employees to show their appreciation for all the hard work that goes in to preparing our students for the future. We are incredibly thankful for their support and recognition of our amazing employees! Also on September 6, Dr. Meinschein had the opportunity to present Cumberland River Homes with a $1000 grant from Performance Services. We are grateful for these great community partnerships.
Hands On Learning
On August 13, Ms. Long’s 3rd grade class worked on creating equilateral triangles and squares! In this hands-on activity, they used toothpicks to go from 3 triangles and squares to 5 by moving only 3 toothpicks! Students were engaged and actively trying to complete this fun activity!
Ms. Johnson and Ms. Doyle had our 4th grade science students busy on August 19! It was bright and plenty warm! So NLES students took the outdoors to learn about solar power. They worked to make solar powered fans! Science is fun!!!

More Hands on Learning
The fourth-grade class when outside on August 19 to learn about systems. One part of their lesson was putting together a solar-powered fan. Science is fun and practical. And on August 26, Mrs. Lauren’s kindergarten class enjoyed a little snack after reading “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!” It just so happens that that the snack looked like palm trees. On September 6, first grade also had some fun making 3D models out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Something tells me that all the fruit palm trees and some of the marshmallows didn't make it out of the rooms.
Dates to Remember!!!
LCMS Back-to-School Night
On Friday, August 30, LCMS 6th Graders traveled to Farmers Bank Friday to learn about careers in banking, finance, the banking/lending process, and financial literacy. Thank you to our community partner Farmers Bank and Tyler Coleman for setting this up for our kids!
Beyond the Classroom
LCMS students love the outdoors. Not all learning has to be confined to the four walls of our classrooms. On August 16, 6th graders had a getaway to Mantle Rock. On August 26, 6th grade students had an elective rotation at Joy Falls.
In between those trips, on August 23, 6th & 7th gradestudents worked during elective rotation to build and place borders around LCMS raised flower beds- project is on going, but sure looks great!

Project United

Several of our Cardinal student leaders had the wonderful opportunity to assist the United Way with their Project United initiative. They traveled to the Marshall County Exceptional Center to help their students organize and prepare for an open house and have a little fun along the way! Thank you to the Marshall County Exceptional Center and the United Way for the opportunity to serve, share, and grow! #allinlivco #allinky
