Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6 - 10!
We are incredibly lucky to have such hard working, dedicated, and loving teachers at HGES. They are constantly going above and beyond to make each day a great day! HGES Administration, HGES PTO, and Class Room Parents have a great week planned for our teachers.
Please take some time this week to reach out to your child's teacher, and let them know the impact they have made on your student. These little notes of appreciation mean more than you know.
Last Day of School
Attention 5th Graders!
It's not too early to schedule physicals for the 2024-2025 school year. All 6th grade students must have a current physical with updated immunizations in order to receive a schedule and start middle school in the fall. Call your health provider to make an appointment soon.
Attention 1st Graders!
All first grade students will need to get a dental exam for 2nd grade. Ask your dentist to fill out the Illinois School Form (see below) at your child's next check up. They should have copies on file as well.
End of Year Medications
If your student has medications in the office, please read the following on how to safely get those medications home for the summer.
Emergency Medications
- Those will go home with your student on the last day of school. They will also bring home forms for next year.
"As Needed" Medications
- These medications will need to be picked up by a parent by the last day of school.
Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be given to our School Resource Officers for safe disposal.
April AR Winner
Updated School Calendar
Due to the use of four snow days so far this year, our 23-24 School Calendar has changed.
We now have school on April 1, May 10, May 17, and May 24. Our last day of school will be May 24, 2024. Please see the Updated School Calendar below.
HGES Art Newsletter
HGES is very lucky to have such an amazing art teacher, Mrs. Heinlein. Each month, she creates a newsletter to showcase the various art projects that are being created in the art room. Please click here to view the work our HGES artists are completing.
Parent/Teacher Communication
Parent communication is important to the overall success and experience your child has at school. While email and/or other electronic means is often the easiest way to communicate with a teacher, please understand that your teacher may be unable to respond in real time. Their focus during the school day is on teaching. As a general rule, teachers will respond to emails within 24 hours. Emails sent/received over the weekend or during a break, will be handled as time allows when school resumes. Please call the office at (309) 243-8711 if you need immediate assistance.
