Happy Summer Break!

Thank you for your support this year, for our faculty and for our students, as we navigated the second year of the difficulties of the COVID pandemic. We are blessed to have been able to end our school year in a place where we were able to celebrate in ways that were familiar and truly missed!

Report cards will be mailed out to families today ~ Be reminded that if there are outstanding financial balances or library books, report cards will be held until resolved. Contact the main office if you have any questions. If you have tuition or extended care payment questions, you can call Annette Syracusa at (585) 544-8880 x 3125.

This summer the Department of Catholic Schools will be transitioning to a new student management system. We will discontinue using MSP ~ if you ordered Hot Lunch in the past two years, you are familiar with MSP. Beginning July 1st we will begin using FACTS for student management but we have been using it for tuition and financial aid for years. Office personnel have been training for a couple of months and teachers will be trained when they return in the Fall. This newsletter will be the last communication that goes out from MSP. We have created our Saint Kateri School prayer intention list. It is the Mission of Saint Kateri School to develop each child's relationship with God and one way we do this is through praying for others in need. Notify the Main Office if you wish to add anyone to this prayer intention list.

Mrs. G and her husband welcomed Emilija Clare to their family on 6/27/22 ~ She was born in the wee hours of the morning and was 9lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. Mom, Dad and Big Brother Niko are doing well! #childofGod

The school building will be closed from Monday, July 18th through Friday, July 29th. There is scheduled building maintenance and summer cleaning during those weeks. Phone messages and emails will be followed up with when the office reopens.

We are looking to bring back LEGO League next year. I attended the LEGO showcase in 2019 for our 3-5th grade students and it was absolutely amazing. We do have an alumni parent that would be able to secure the materials and to also be available to train and support you. Since there are deadlines for the Fall showcase we will need to have someone in place before school starts to ensure that the club begins for students in early September. Please call the Main Office if you are interested!

We would like to welcome Mrs. Lauren Bates to Saint Kateri School! She will be the 4th grade homeroom teacher and, as we are moving to a departmentalized model next year for 4th and 5th grade, Mrs Bates will teach ELA and Social Studies and Mrs. Steele will teach Math and Science. Mrs. Bates comes to us with years of experience teaching in Catholic Schools in Rochester, including Saint Margaret Mary School, Bishop Kearney and Holy Cross ~ she is excited to join our SKS community and share her talents and her faith with our students. You will feel her passion and joy for teaching as soon as you meet her!

JULY:

• 7/18-7/22: VBS at Christ the King Church
• 7/18-7/29: Saint Kateri School closed to visitors

AUGUST:

• 8/1: School reopens
• 8/30: Kindergarten Orientation 6:00-7:00pm
• 8/31: Preschool Orientation 6:00-7:00pm

SEPTEMBER:

• 9/6: K-5 Supply Drop-Off (12:30-2:00pm)
• 9/7: 1st Day of School (K-5)!
• 9/7: Beginning of the Year Prayer Service (5th grade)
• 9/8: Preschool Visitation and Supply Drop-Off (AM: 10:00-11:00 and PM: 1:00-2:00)
• 9/9: Preschool Visitation and Supply Drop-Off (AM: 10:00-11:00 and PM: 1:00-2:00)
• 9/12: Preschool Three's and Four's begin
