A Message from the Principal
Hello Hobby and Hobby Magnet Family,
As we approach the final three weeks of the school year, we want to ensure that both you and your children are well-prepared for a smooth and successful conclusion. Here are some important reminders regarding attendance and the completion of the end-of-year verification form.
Attendance
Maintaining regular attendance during the final weeks is crucial for your child's success. Here’s why:
Final Assessments: Many classes will have final exams, projects, or presentations. Being present ensures your child doesn't miss these important evaluations, which can significantly impact their final grades.
Classroom Instruction: Teachers often review key concepts and provide essential information about what to expect in the next grade. Attending these classes can help reinforce your child's learning and provide clarity on any remaining questions.
Participation in Activities: The last weeks of school often include special activities, celebrations, and events that recognize students' hard work throughout the year. Regular attendance allows your child to fully participate and enjoy these experiences.
Verification Form
Completing the end-of-year verification form is a critical task for ensuring that we have accurate records and can effectively plan for the next school year. Here’s what you need to do:

From the Magnet School Director
The countdown of what I love to refer to as the student showcase has begun. I hope you were able to see one of the 3 performances of The Little Mermaid this past weekend. Many of our Magnet students were a part of this amazing show. It was the best Middle School Show I have ever seen! Kudos to the kids and teachers for all of their hard work! We also had a great Band Concert and Orchestra is right around the corner. It is so great to see how much they grow throughout the year. Continue to encourage everyone to be present everyday and to finish strong! Continuing to look forward to the remaining fun we have planned for our students.

Library
All library books are now due!
We still have 344 books unaccounted for. If your student has any lost or overdue books they will not be allowed to participate in field day at the end of the year, so please help them look for their books and remind your student to turn them in asap. Mrs. Fox has sent out the first round of overdue notices and will be sending out more notices as the year concludes. If your student(s) has received an overdue notice but think they may have returned it please have them see Mrs. Fox. She will have them look on the shelf for the book in question. If they find it she will dismiss the fine. If the book can not be located and you are unable to pay the fine for any reason please have your student speak to Mrs. Fox, so she can do her librarian magic and dismiss the fine. However, if you can pay for the lost or damaged book we ask that you please do so, so that we can purchase a replacement copy for others to enjoy. The fine does include the cost of processing and library binding to make the books more durable. Thanks for your support of our library and literacy here at Hobby!
Our Library is an incredible resource and our kids LOVE coming in.

Notes from the Nurse
- Immunization letters are going out to students to take home to parents. Calls will be made from Administration as a reminder to parents. FYI Parents: Our records will transfer to the School your child will be attending next year. If it is not updated while in attendance this year, you will have to take an updated record to the High School your child will be attending before they release a class schedule for the coming school year.
- UHS Immunization Bus will be at Hobby 5/30/2024 from 9am-12pm. Please complete the packet and return it to the school clinic as soon as possible to assure an appointment time. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out at 210-397-6309 or Purificacion.Montes@nisd.net. Thank you for all you do in keeping up with your child’s well being.
