Dear Hayshire Families,

At Hayshire Elementary, we work hard and play hard!. Last Friday, a good time was had by all at Laser Alleys! Thank you to our PTO for organizing this School Spirit Night!

We had a wonderful Fall Family Night! Over 550 Hayshire family members and staff were in attendance! Thank you to Mrs. Spangler for organizing the Scholastic Book Fair. Earlier this week, our students had an opportunity to preview the books during the school day. Some would say book browsing is a lost art in an increasingly digital culture. This is not the case at Hayshire! Our children were so excited to preview these books! The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in our Hayshire lobby on Saturday, October 19 from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. Our beautifully decorated pumpkins are on display in the hallway and the lobby for the entire school to enjoy. Pumpkins can be picked up at Parent Conferences on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25.

On Wednesday, our third graders went on a field trip to the Byrnes Health Education Center for Children's Wellness. Our students participated in several learning stations. Wellness means being responsible for your own health by: Learning how to be healthy. Practicing good health habits. Making positive choices about the way you live.

Our PTO PAWS-ITIVE POWER FUNDRAISER is in full swing! This donation only fundraiser will run from October 16 to October 30! Flyers went home this week. Check out this video to learn more about our fundraiser.

Parent Teacher Conferences will take place Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25. If you still need to secure a day and time, the Conference Scheduler will close on Tuesday, October 22 at 3:00 PM. Due to Parent Teacher Conferences, we have an early dismissal on Thursday, October 24. And, there is no school for students on Friday, October 25 and Monday, October 28. Monday, October 28 is an in-service day for teachers.

Second Grade went swimming at the high school. Every second grader had five days of swimming lessons. To learn more about their experience, click on the button below, Swimming!

This year, conferences will take place Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25. Conferences will be in person at Hayshire! All families will use Skyward to schedule a Parent-Teacher Conference. The Conference Scheduler will open in Skyward beginning Monday, September 30 at 8:00 AM. This will allow you flexibility to select a time. The Parent-Teacher Conference provides a time to meet with the teacher and learn more about your child's progress, academically, socially, and emotionally.

• Thank you to everyone who attended our last PTO meeting! Our next meeting is Thursday, November 7 at 6:00 pm in the library. Once again, PTO will provide child care during the meeting. We can’t wait to see you!

• The PTO Fundraiser is in full swing! The PAWS-ITIVE POWER FUNDRAISER is donation only. The Fundraiser will run from October 16 to October 30!

• Every year the PTO provides dinner for the teachers and staff during the Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you would like to donate, please click on the button below, Donations for Teacher Dinner.

Central York School District offers optional protection plans for your child’s District issued devices.

The protection plan fully covers your child’s device for any accidental damage that occurs. The cost is $25 per year for iPads and $60 per year for Macbooks.
