PTA Reflections Awards!
This week, we celebrated our talented Reflections participants with a special Glow Party! ✨🕶️ The students enjoyed neon fun in the dark, and we held an awards ceremony to honor our winners, who proudly received their medals! 🏅🌟
We’re thrilled to share that we had 64 entries this year—three times more than last year! The art is currently on display in the trophy case across from the library.
Looking ahead, we're excited for next year's Reflections theme: "I Belong" for the 2025-26 school year. Students can start brainstorming creative ideas!
Congratulations again to all our participants, especially our Award of Excellence recipients. These students represent the top 20% of submissions in each category. They will move on to counsel level where they will be judged with entries from the other LISD schools. Counsel will do their own awards ceremony in the spring and everybody who moved on will be invited!
Stay tuned for more photos from this exciting event that will be on our website soon! 📸🎉

Jingle Bell Jog 2024
It’s almost time for our 29th Annual Jingle Bell Jog. The date is Friday, December 13th! Twenty nine years ago, when the Jingle Bell Jog started, we were looking for a way to promote lifetime fitness and wellness. We chose the Marcus Cross Country Team to be our role models and partners. Everyone is invited to come and jog with your child. Due to increased security, parents must pre register to attend. Details will be shared in the coming weeks. Each grade level will jog during their designated time listed below. Please note, this may not be their regular Specials time. Kinder will be spectators this year and participate next year.
8:00-8:50 1st grade
8:55-9:45 2nd grade
9:50-10:40 3rd grade
10:45-11:35 4th grade
11:40-12:30 5th grade
The t-shirt order form went home last week. Remember to order your shirts by November 18th!!!!. If not sure on size, you might go up a size so they can wear the shirt a little longer. Extra order forms are in the front office or you can email your child's teacher to have another sent home.
The easiest way to order is online. Here is the LINK to order online.
Thanks,
Ms. Massa
Penny Fridays are HERE!
Bring your loose change or dollar bills each Friday until December 6th to help raise money for a Marcus Cross Country scholarship! For over 20 years, the Marcus Cross Country team has partnered with Prairie Trail for our Jingle Bell Jog. The grade that raises the most by December 1st wins a Choice Day in P.E. after the jog on Dec 13th!
Kindergarten will only be spectating during the jog, but they’re welcome to join the fun by cheering on the other grades and by participating in Penny Friday!
Community Challenge - Marcus vs. Flower Mound
Who’s the best Christmas carol singer!?
Who’s the best Christmas carol singer!? Principal Cody Koontz of MHS? Or Principal Chad Russell of FMHS?
THERE’S ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!
Both Principals have accepted the challenge to raise money for the Flower Mound Police Department Santa Cops Program!
The competition is simple. Each year FMPD hosts a gift card drive by collecting Target and Visa gift cards for the Santa Cops program. FMHS (and their feeder schools) will go head-to-head with MHS (and their feeder schools). The school who collects the highest total value of gift cards wins!
What’s the payoff? Well, the losing school’s (there really is no loser, it’s all for a great cause!) principal will dress up as Santa Claus and perform live with their school’s choir at our Cocoa with the Popo event on Thursday, December 5th at Market Street Flower Mound! Yes, that’s right, Christmas Carols and pop hits performed live by Principals Russell or Koontz!
How do you participate? The FMPD Community Services Unit will drop off boxes at our elementary schools and to our SRO’s at their respective schools (Middle and High). Donations can be placed in those boxes throughout the week. On Fridays, the Community Services Unit will pick up and tally the donations, providing updates to the campuses as we go.
The Santa Cops Challenge will begin on Monday, November 4th and continue through Friday, November 22nd. We will announce the winner that evening to make sure our losing principal has enough time to get his vocal chords ready!
If anyone has any questions, please reach out the FMPD Community Services Unit. Email: fmpd.communityservices@flowermound.gov or by phone: 972-874-3357.
Thank you in advance for all your support!

Recognize Someone submissions are open again! Would you like to recognize a staff member at Prairie Trail or LISD, click here to type a quick note. It will be printed on a nice post card and delivered to that staff member. It is free for you, but worth so much!! :)
