Principal's Message
HTMS Community,
I want to thank you all for continuing to rally behind our kids and school community!
We had an amazing Black Student Excellence event that felt like the perfect capstone to the month of February. We had over 250 people show up that got to witness the brilliance and excellence our students hold each and every day within them. We also invited our Black Student Union (BSU) into our staff meeting for the third year in a row where we gathered voice and continued to build community between our students and staff.
Today, we finalize our staffing for the 2025-2026 school year. First and foremost, I want to thank our Site Council, PTSA and Jin Ren (parent group for our DLI program) for all of their advocating to the district for our school and kids. We again faced the difficult decision of having to make cuts to our staff. While I am excited about the work being done at HTMS, the amazing things our kids are doing, and the staff we have returning next year, I am also feeling for those of us who won't be returning next school year. It is never easy to continue to have your enrollment grow (exciting news!) and your staffing shrink, I believe the staffing we are forecasting will allow us to continue to move our work forward. I'm grateful to be in community with you all, I know we will navigate this time together and I look forward to finishing the year strong.
Thank you. Take care

Please remember to return to the main office to sign out.
If you would like to visit a classroom, you will need to provide educators with a 24 hour notice. This can be done via email or over the phone with the educator.
All volunteers must have a background check. Ask our front office how to get that going!
Yondr (Cell Phone) Expectations
We launched our new Cell Phone policy on Monday, February 3rd! We had our Student Support team, community partners, Self Enhancement Inc. and Maurice Lucas Foundation, and our Student Council push into classes on Thursday to talk about the new policy while creating opportunities for questions and conversations. Our Student Council kids did an amazing job!
Please refer to these resources for our policy, general information and slides we used to communicate with our kids:
Code of Conduct Agreement
Harriet Tubman Middle School has several policies and expectations for our students and our Code of Conduct Agreement (CCA) outlines each of them. You will see expectations for students in regards to our general building expectations (A.S.K.), our attendance system (ASERT), behavior referrals and discipline ladder, cell phone policy, social media and attire expectations as well as our food policy.
Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment for all students. It is your responsibility to review our building expectations and to ensure both you and your student/s understand HTMS and PPS expectations and policies.
If you have any questions and or concerns, please reach out to our team for support.
