Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Weekly Updates! May 6- May 10
Hello Hamilton Families,
This is a very special week! This week we say thank you to our teachers for all they do for our students and families. Our Hamilton teachers go above and beyond to make sure they give more than just reading, writing and math instruction. Our teachers make sure our students feel welcomed, loved and safe every day, they share the ups and downs and make sure our student's have all they need to be successful in life. I have shared a list of things you could do to thank our teachers, participate how ever it fits best for your family.
We are down to the last 5 weeks of school, let's continue to work together to make each moment count! This is the time to keep focused and continue to work hard right through to the end. We still have a great deal of instruction, learning activities and year end assessments to complete, let's keep up the hard work!
We have a new community partner that has joined our Hamilton Family, Gateway Church is now one of our community partners. Gateway is sponsoring a VIP dance on 5/30 that is completely free for our families! A flier will go home this week!
We will be collecting the students iPads that were assigned this year and last as they were part of a grant. That grant is coming to an end and the devices have to be turned in. Please make sure to send your child's iPad and charger to school tomorrow if you have not already done so. We do not have any devices that will be sent home at this time. Students will continue to have a Chromebook to use at school each day. District Updates and News
Please join us in wearing GREEN on May 7th for Mental Health Awareness Month (May)! We are encouraging all staff and students to participate! By wearing green as a school community, we are raising awareness about mental health, breaking down stigma and promoting self-care. Green is associated with new beginnings, growth and renewal, which can represent the idea that individuals with mental health challenges can experience healing, recovery and personal growth. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being, and is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Tardy If your child arrives more than 45 minutes late it will count as an absence. If your child leaves more than 45 minutes early, it will also count as an absence.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Reporting:Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Any student who is absent-unexcused for 10 or more days consecutively will be dropped from the school and will have to re-enroll if they would like to return.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
