Focused Interim Superintendent & Inquiry Update

Dear Bremerton Community,

As the 2024-2025 school year approaches, we want to provide an update on the process related to the inquiry into allegations against Dr. James Crawford, who remains on administrative leave.

To ensure a smooth start to the school year and minimize potential disruption, the Bremerton School Board is moving forward with interviewing candidates for potential appointment of a focused interim superintendent for the start of the 2024-25 school year. This will help the district to maintain momentum on several major district initiatives, including bond program implementation and strategic planning, and allow current staff to refocus their efforts on these important projects.

The human resources inquiry into the BSD work environment and the tenor of interactions under Dr. Crawford’s leadership remains in progress. Updates will continue to be provided to the degree we are able. This update and all previous updates have been shared with families, staff and e-newsletter subscribers, and are posted on the District’s website.
