Parking & Changes out front of West after break:
Upon our return from spring break, you will notice some changes as construction will begin on the classroom additions to Intermediate East (Evergreen Elementary 25/26.) Fencing will be up for safety where the portables used to be and extend to the length of the building by AISW door 2.
Car rider line will go back to turning down the second to last lane instead of extending to the last lane.
Please be patient and safe at car rider line. Our student's safety is our #1 priority!
Parking out front of AIS West: There will be some parking spots marked for CONTRACTOR ONLY parking. Please park in other spots when visiting West. We have plenty of parking out front for all guests to the building,
Middle School Athletics: Track for 6th grade
We want to ask you to mark your calendars for a parent meeting hosted by Avon Athletics on Tuesday, April 2. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm in the Avon High School Auditorium (Door 33). This event, which is open to any Avon parent/caregiver, will be of special interest to families whose children are or will be in middle school in the coming years. April 8- ELEARNING Day: Eclipse!
Avon Elearning Info: https://www.avon-schools.org/about/district-calendars/e-learning
Avon and a large swath of central Indiana are directly in the path of the total solar eclipse that will occur on April 8. As the event nears, its magnitude is becoming clear. Consider the following bits of information we've been gleaning from scientific experts and safety agencies:
- The April 8 eclipse will begin at approximately 1:45 pm and end by 4:30 pm; totality will begin at roughly 3:00 pm.
- The moon will cover 100% of the sun for approximately 3.5 minutes in Avon; it will last for 4 minutes in Bloomington.
- The next solar eclipse visible in North America will occur in 2044 and the next one affecting parts of Indiana will occur in 2099.
- During the eclipse it will be so dark that some bright planets and stars will be visible, temperatures may drop by as many as 10 degrees, and nocturnal animals will become active.
- State officials expect as many as 500,000 to a million people to visit central Indiana to experience the event.
- Public safety officials are already preparing to manage a crowd that will exceed five times the size of the Indianapolis 500 across multiple counties that lie in the path of totality.
- Communities that have experienced total solar eclipses (in 2017 and 2023) have reported traffic gridlock, extremely long commute times, fuel shortages at gas stations, cellular service outages, and other adverse outcomes resulting from overtaxed infrastructure.
School corporations across central Indiana — Avon Schools included — have cancelled in-person classes that day. Avon Schools has scheduled an e-learning day. This enables our students, families, and employees to avoid the inconveniences listed above while giving them the opportunity to enjoy the experience of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

ILEARN Treats for students: Prepared, Respectful and doing our Personal Best!
During ILEARN we want to ensure our students are PREPARED, RESPECTFUL of all and doing their PERSONAL BEST. As students do all 3 of these each day, we want to reward them at lunch with a special treat. To do this we need your help!
We are hopeful each team can help us by donating snacks for the students to enjoy at lunch. If students are prepared (has charged laptop, pencil, wired earbuds, etc), is respectful (quiet during testing, follows directions) and does their personal best (stays awake, uses time wisely ) they will earn a ticket for a special treat that day at lunch!
This is where we need your help! Each of you received a sign up link over spring break to sign up to donate a snack item. Please click on the link and help donate a snack to help us provide our amazing students a treat each day during testing time! Our students have 8-9 days of testing. Help us motivate them to do their personal best each day, to be respectful and to ensure they are prepared!
Most importantly, Give them a hug as they walk out the door and help us remind them each day how much each of us BELIEVES IN THEM!

Weekly Grade Checks Start this week: Ask your child to see them!
They will be recording their grades on a sheet like the one below. If they have any missing assignments, they will write down those missing assignments and make sure they have what they need to complete that assignment. This sheet will then be placed in their yellow gold take home folder. Every Friday we hope that you will ask your child to also see this folder to see their grades and to make sure they dont have any missing assignments. If they do, please make sure they get these completed and turned in asap.We ask that you initial/ sign next to the date at the top of each column of grades each week after reviewing the sheet with your child.
Also, remember as their parent to check Power Parent frequently to monitor their grades and any missing assignments.
With the weekly grade checks we are working to teach each student how to be accountable for their grades and all assignments. Thank you for your help and support with this.
