Welcome to the 20-21 School Year
It is with deep gratitude and joy that I welcome you all to our most unique school year yet. I continue to be amazed as the events of the past six months unfold and we are presented with new challenges and opportunities each day. The teachers at West Middleton (all staff are teachers at West Middleton) have been working around the clock for the past two weeks, learning, growing, planning, collaborating, creating and reimagining the world of education.
One of the key things we have focused on these past two weeks is the wealth of opportunities our current situation is providing us. We know that what we focus on grows, therefore we are choosing to focus on the positives and the opportunities. The Ready Set Go Listening Sessions have been one of our biggest examples of this. For those of you who have been with us in previous years, we hope you felt the connections and engagement in our virtual format as much as we did. Every staff member commented on how meaningful the sessions were and how they appreciated the individual time they had with students and families. Our hope is that as we venture into the 20-21 school year together, we will be able to develop deeper, more meaningful relationships, not only with our students, but with you all as their caregivers, as well. We are hopeful that virtual learning will create more genuine opportunities for individualized learning and connections.
We know this isn't the start of the school year most of us have hoped for, but we are 100% committed to making this the best year possible for our Wolverines. We are in this together. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself, your child's teacher or any of the other teachers at West Middleton. We hope you have a joyful and relaxing Labor Day and we can't wait to see you in Morning Meeting on Tuesday.
Take care,
Katrina Krych

Some of the key points include:
- There is a LOT of communication coming from school right now. We are erring on the side of caution and would rather over communicate than under communicate. If you can't find a link or you need a question answered, please reach out.
- We should anticipate technology issues the first week. There will be so many kids and families connected to the internet and it's bound to happen. When we anticipate issues, it's easier to handle them when they come.
- We have moved our Morning Meetings to either 8:45 or 9:00 based on parent feedback in our Pre-Ready Set Go video and at our listening sessions. Many parents will be dropping their children off at 8:00 and many daycares are not able to support learning until 8:45/9:00.
- If you need the zoom link to your child's Morning Meeting, please contact their classroom teacher.
- If you are needing help with anything else, we are here for you! Contact kherman@mcpasd.k12.wi.us and she will get you to the right person.
Encore Office Hours 1:00 - 2:00 - Week of 9/8 and 9/14

September Affirmation - I Am Somebody!!
I AM SOMEBODY
I am somebody
I am capable and loveable
I am teachable, and therefore I can LEARN
I can do anything when I try.
I’ll be the best I can be.
Each day.
Each day.
Each day.
I will not waste time
Because it’s too valuable.
And I am too precious and bright.
I am somebody.
I am somebody.
I am somebody!
