February 2025
A Note From Your Proud Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
As we enter the month of February, I want to express my gratitude for the ongoing support and enthusiasm you bring to our school community. It’s been a wonderful start to the year, and I am looking forward to a busy Spring.
This month, we’ll be engaging in some important activities that support our students' academic growth. You should have received information about NWEA testing that was done last month. Mock testing will be taking place later this month for 3rd-5th graders, providing our students with an opportunity to practice and prepare for upcoming assessments. These practice tests help familiarize them with the format and ensure they feel confident and prepared.
February is an extremely busy month. Please be sure to check our Events Calendar for all the details and additional activities happening throughout the month! Communication is key especially when there are so many things going on.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to make this a fantastic year for our students. Wishing you all a wonderful and enriching February!
Happy Valentine's Day.
Your Proud Principal

New Traffic Pattern on Beech/Hill St
Beginning tomorrow arrival and dismissal on Hill St. will be moved to Beech St. This is needed in order for phase 2 construction to advance. Staff will be there to assist as usual and we know this is going to take some time to adjust so we will have extra hands on deck as well. Please be patient as we adjust to work out any additional changes needing to be made. Below is a map of the new traffic patterns. One lane will still be able to turn down Hill St to leave, but we can no longer unload/load on that street. The other lane will turn left on Hill St to leave. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this exciting time for our school.

Math Fact Fluency
Fact fluency helps build higher order thinking in mathematics, builds students’ confidence in their math abilities, and reduces confusion and anxiety. Here at Mina, we want all our students to grow and succeed in their math abilities. Beginning this month and continuing through the end of the school year, we are promoting math fact fluency practice through the use of the math practice trifolds.
Teachers will be presenting this to their class and tracking how students progress through each operation's fluencies trifolds. This is optional practice that any child in any grade level can choose to participate in. Students will be allowed to take one practice sheet home at a time. Upon completion of the trifold, students will turn in their sheet to their teacher who will be tracking their progress. Once all fact trifolds have been completed in an operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), students will go to the office for a prize. Then they can begin the next operation’s fluency trifolds.
