Weekly Scout Report ~ Oct. 21, 24
Happy Monday afternoon,
This Wednesday is our Book Fair Breakfast family event from 8-8:35 in the Nike gym.
This Friday is Missouri Day. It will be a fun and busy day at Nike. Thank you to all of the volunteers who already turned in their paperwork. We ask that parents/guardians not show up the day of Missouri Day without prior communication with the office regarding volunteering.
Many families are planning for Halloween already. I wanted to make all families aware that we will have a Halloween parade at 2:45 on Oct. 31st. The following will NOT be allowed regarding costumes: horror/scary, face paint, masks, weapons, or inflatables. Students MUST be able to use restroom independently during the day.
Reminder - no school Friday, November 1, 2024.
Pick Up Procedures
Just a reminder, if you need to change you child(ren)'s transportation in the afternoon, please call the Nike office before 2:45.
The doors to the parent pick up line will close at 3:45. If you are picking your child up from SACC after school, please park and walk to the SACC entrance.
Character Initiative Survey ~ Please participate
We are working to improve the character initiative at Nike Elementary, and we would appreciate it if you would complete our parent survey. The information you provide is important to us and will be used in school planning.
The survey should only take 10 minutes of your time. Please complete the survey today, if possible, but no later than October 21, 2024.
Your response to the survey is anonymous, confidential, and voluntary. Responding to the survey constitutes your consent for us to use the information for district and school planning.
To access the survey, please go to https://bit.ly/3Bcr3nb and use password nike279 to take the survey.
Why read at home?
Reading at home with your children is one of the most powerful ways to support their learning and development. By reading together, you expose them to a wide variety of words, helping to expand their vocabulary and understanding of how language works. Make reading part of your daily routine! Even 15 minutes a day can make a huge difference. Let's inspire a love for reading as we Grow Together!
District to Host Parent & Community Interactive Design Meetings
Meramec Valley R-III School District invites all parents, staff, students, & community members to learn more about the initial design for a new 7th & 8th grade Middle School. Meetings hosted by Riverbend Middle School will begin at 6 PM on Oct. 22, Nov. 19, and Dec. 17.
Stakeholder input is an important step in the design process, so please join us as we begin this exciting project! Find out more at bit.ly/MVR3MP.

Oasis Tutoring
Do you know someone 50+ who would be interested in helping a child learn to love reading and learning? Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring pairs volunteers ages 50+ with children in grades K-3 to work one-on-one each week as their tutors, mentors and friends. They can tutor one child or several, on a one-on-one basis each week throughout the school year.
Anyone interested can sign up today by calling 314-995-9506 or visiting https://st-louis.oasisnet.org/tutoring/. Training will be on October 16 from 9:00-2:00 at Central Office.
