Wow! We are flying through this fall semester and there is SO MUCH happening with PTA. We hope you enjoyed walking and rolling to school this morning, and that you received some fun swag handed out by our Westwood PALS…AND we hope to see you TONIGHT at the WATCH D.O.G.S. MEMBERSHIP AND HASSLE FREE DONATION: You can join PTA as a member and make your Hassle Free Donation separately, or you can bundle them! The Hassle Free Donation alone does not include your PTA membership. If you do not “Bundle” the donation or select the $8 membership separately, then you haven’t joined the PTA!

We are aiming for 90% of our goal by the end of October - please help us get there if you are able. These are essential funds to support our school, teachers and all Comets.

We are also very close to hitting our goal for the hassle free donation goal – these funds are essential to meet the needs for our students in the classroom, provide enrichment at each grade level, support our essentials (Art, Music and P.E.), library, counselor, intervention, field trip funding and so much more. We can’t thank this community enough for showing their support – whether a hassle free or whatever donation you choose to give – thank you, thank you, thank you.

ATTENTION FIFTH GRADE FAMILIES!

The first Friday Feast of the school year is on Friday, October 11. This year, Friday Feasts will be catered by local businesses, and we are asking parents by grade level to “host” the feasts by setting up, serving and cleaning up after the feast.

For the first Friday Feast, the CCE Staff will enjoy a taco buffet from Torchy’s and cookies from Tiff’s Treats, hosted by 5th Grade. If you are a parent of a fifth grader and would like to be involved, click the image to sign up. Each grade level will be hosting one Friday Feast this year!

For the third year in a row, Canyon Creek Elementary is participating in the Westwood Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, October 16.

Go Wood!

It’s time to clean out the trunk of your car, dust off your candy bucket and pick out your Halloween costume! That’s right…CCE Trunk or Treat is coming up on Friday, October 25.

Students can wear (non-scary) costumes for the Trunk or Treat and some fun photo ops. Trunks will be set up in the parking lot facing Boulder for students to visit.

Host a Trunk!

We are hoping to make Trunk or Treat a fantastic event again this year, so we are looking for families, students and staff who are willing to host a trunk! Our goal is to have 30 participating trunks.

Please be creative (and not too spooky). Your trunk can be themed after a favorite book or movie, a toy or a board game, or something festive for the season. Students can participate by handing out prizes or treats and running Trunk activities. For more information and to sign up to host a trunk, click the event flyer!

Math Pentathlon is gearing up to get started. Please complete the form before October 15, if your student is interested to join the program.

Math Pentathlon is an after-school math games club for learning and playing strategy games that exercise different math skills. Kids gain confidence with math concepts in a friendly and social atmosphere. More information can be found here.

The Canyon Creek Elementary 2024 Math Pentathlon has been sponsored by Eye Level Learning Center located on 620 and Lake Creek Parkway.

Reflections is a National PTA program whose purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original work.

The theme this year is “Accepting Imperfection” and students are asked to interpret that theme in their work in the art categories of:

• Music composition

• Film production

• Literature

• Photography

• Visual arts

• Dance Choreography

The 2024-2025 PTA Spirit Shirts are still for sale while supplies last, but some sizes are already sold out. If you still don't have your shirt yet, check the website to see if your size is still available and grab it today! Spirit Shirts ordered online will come home in backpacks from your student’s teacher after our regularly scheduled sorting days. After you’ve joined PTA, head over to Facebook and Join the Canyon Creek Elementary Facebook Group for the most up-to-date information on PTA activities and to share information and tips with our CCE community! This group is a private group for our community only, and only current PTA members will be approved into the group, so make sure that you’ve joined PTA first before requesting approval into the group.

Is your child at Grisham Middle School or heading there soon? Stay up to date with what's happening on campus by joining the Grisham PTA Facebook page. You'll find info about school programs, fun activities, spirit nights, volunteer opportunities, teacher appreciation and more. You don’t have to be a GMS PTA member to join, but if you’d like to join Grisham PTA, you can do that here.

To volunteer at Canyon Creek Elementary in any capacity, you must first fill out a volunteer application with the school district. This includes volunteering with PTA, chaperoning field trips, helping in the classroom or working with students. A new application must be submitted each year for the current school year and can take up to a week to be fully approved.

Save the date for the fall Book Fair on November 11-15

The RRISD Clothes Closet is a nonprofit that is proudly overseen by the RRISD Council of PTAs and provides gently used clothes, new socks, and new underwear to any child in our school district, twice a year. There is no charge to parents, and they do not have to prove there is a need; however, the child must be enrolled in a RRISD school.

The most important thing that makes the Clothes Closet successful is PTA members that volunteer to serve as representatives for their school. CCE needs two volunteers each month for a two hour shift and volunteers can sign up for shifts here.
