iReady Celebration
Students who meet the monthly goal for completing iReady lessons will participate in the iReady celebration on May 2nd. Kindergarten will decorate cookies. 1st grade will play games in the gym and 2nd grade will play games outside. Great job on staying focused during iReady time and completing your pathway to those earning the celebration.
NPS Derby Day
Students have been learning about the Kentucky Derby in PE class in preparation of our NPS Derby Day on Friday, May 9th. A boy and a girl will represent each class in their grade. Classes voted on their horses names. In honor of the Kentucky Derby and NPS Derby Day students received a horse head to decorate as a family project. We love seeing the family horse projects.

Preschool Event
Our preschool families are invited to our next family event on Wednesday, May 7th. Dinner will be served 5:00 - 5:30 with a session to follow until approximately 6:45pm. We will have two student and two parent giveaways. The event topic is Perseverance: I can complete tasks. Come meet other families, engage in activities with your preschooler and take some materials to use at home. Register by scanning OR clicking on the picture of the QR code.
Move Up Day
Newport Primary school has Move Up day each year. On this day, preschool through first grade will visit the classroom of their next year’s teacher for a few hours.
Preschool students enrolled in kindergarten next year are invited to NPS for Move Up day! Your child will meet and spend time with their kindergarten teacher. This is a great opportunity for your child to become more comfortable with school and see what kindergarten is all about.
Awards Day
Students will be recognized for their hard work on the last day of school.
12:00pm - 1st grade
1:00pm - 2nd grade
2:00pm - Kindergarten
Awards will take place in the gym. The gate and doors will open 15 minutes to the awards beginning. Guests should expect to remain the entire awards as the gates will be locked 10 minutes after the event begins for school safety. Please arrive early to find parking. The awards will be no longer than 45 minutes.
We do ask your child remains at school the remainder of the the day. For first and second grade, it gives students time to clean out their desks and say goodbye to their friends. There will also be a few photo-ops set up for pictures at dismissal.
NEW Newport App
The new Newport Schools app is live! Teachers will begin using the app in a few weeks to communicate with parents. We will continue to send out communications via Remind for the remainder of the year, but will also be posting on the Newport app. We encourage all of our families to download this new app. See below!
