Park Terrace Elementary
December 11, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Greetings Park Terrace Families,
We’ve had a strong start to trimester two. This week, our fourth grade students have been getting ready for their Heart Fair to share all their learning and projects around the literal and figurative heart. Kindergarten students are getting ready to share their Alphabet Fashion Show! There has been so much learning on display with an authentic audience. The students have been so engaged and are full of pride in their work!
Report cards went home last Friday in student backpacks. If you have any questions, please reach out.
Our next family pulse check is tomorrow, Thursday. Watch for email/text and take a moment to share your experiences. Bright spots are shared with staff and we take every piece of feedback into account. Thanks for taking the time. It only takes a minute.
Our next PTA meeting is January 8 at 5 p.m. Please come and join! We are beginning to plan for our spring fundraiser and our school carnival. It’s an easy and fun way to get involved. Kids are always welcome to join as well.
Have a great week,
Lindsay Johnson
Principal

Communicating in many forms through poetry
Using their communication devices to read their poems aloud to their 4th grade peers and families, students in the Reach program at Park Terrace Elementary recently participated in a poetry slam! An amazing opportunity to share how communication comes in many forms ✍️
From paper plants to community circles
The paper plants on the wall are all different and filled with students’ hopes and dreams. In another room, there is a student signed poster with the class rules. In another space, Tuesday mornings are circle time. Across Spring Lake Park Schools, specific, intentional strategies and practices like these are creating a learner-centered environment.
A learner-centered environment is a space where students feel seen, heard, valued – that they belong. It’s a space to safely develop and practice skills like working together and treating each other with respect and kindness. It’s a place of shared responsibility where each member supports and feels supported in learning.
Teachers across grade levels and schools dip into a shared collection of strategies, tools and resources to support the social, emotional and behavioral development and management practices that create a safe, learner-centered environment.
Take a peek into four strategies that put learners at the center.
