Appleton Echo
Summer Term 1, Week 5
A word from Mr Broom
Next week is SATs week, and I'm sure you'll join me in wishing our wonderful year six children and Mr Snowden all the very best.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Open Phonics Sessions for Parents
On Thursday, we welcomed our parents into school for open phonics sessions. The activity was very well attended with the aim of sharing how we teach the basics of reading so that parents can support their children at home in the same way. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Parent Survey
We're always keen to get the views of our stakeholders and last term, we asked our pupils what they thought of school. This term, it's over to our parents/carers to let us know what they think.
If you could spare a short period of time to fill out the survey below (click on the link), it will really help us on our continued journey of improvement.
Thank you in advance.
Human and Physical Features of Appleton - Geography in Year 1/2
On Wednesday, Miss Brough took her class out into the locality to explore the human and physical geography features of our local surroundings. The class had a super time and learned lots.
Mums doing their bit for Ambulances for Ukraine
Three of our mums, Victoria (Annabelle & Finley in Year 5), Louise (Fred in Year 5), & Ginny (Jenson in Year 5) are helping to raise funds for the Mums4MightyConvoy. Perhaps you would like to help them?
Mums4MightyConvoy are working with Mighty Convoy, an established voluntary group who raise money to buy Ex-NHS ambulances and drive them directly (after being filled with front line supplies) to Ukraine. They are handed over to a charity in Ukraine to take to those most in need.
The group have £7,000 to raise in 3 weeks and launched the campaign last Sunday!
The link below takes you to the fundraising page where you can enter a free prize draw for a Play Station 5 games console!
The ambulances will be driven by 2 of the fundraises themselves to Ukraine early June.

Car Convos!
Talk is really important for all learners in school and we know that our children are exposed to lots of exciting learning opportunities, both at home and at school. To help develop speaking and listening skills and knowledge of the wider world, we're introducing Car Convos! A topic that we share in the newsletter on a Friday, that families can discuss in the car on their travels. We'll then pick this up after the weekend.
This week's Car Convo centres around Success and what this looks like.
This week's Car Convo:
What does it mean to be successful and how do you know you are?

We are a 'Nut Free' School
A polite reminder that we have children in school who have severe nut allergies. Please ensure that you do not bring nuts on to the school site or include them in packed lunches.
Thank you for your support with this.
