The Westgate Wire

Fall has arrived, and with it, we have fluctuating temperatures throughout the day. Please be sure to send your child with a jacket or sweatshirt. We do go outside for a 30-minute recess at lunch, and we want to ensure students have warmer clothing.

Please follow our procedures during arrival and drop-off. Students should only enter and exit vehicles on the sidewalk area when in the circle drive (both front and back). For safety reasons and to assist with the flow of traffic, students should not exit or enter vehicles while on Dwyer Street. Thank you!

We will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 31st. Below is important information about the change in lunch hour and costumes.

All grade levels will have lunch/recess from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Many parents take their children home for lunch on Halloween. If you plan to take your child home, please complete this form by October 25th. This will help us plan for the number of students going home or staying for lunch at school.

Halloween Costumes:

• Costumes should be appropriate for school and have no overly bloody or scary images.

• They should also not have any weapons (knives, swords, guns).

• If your child’s costume has a mask, please be sure they can see through it and walk safely inside and outside the building.

• We ask that parents and students be sensitive to the feelings of others if their child is part of the a group costume. We do not want others to feel excluded.
