It is my honor to announce that ILSMMS attained a Level 5 Growth Score from the Tennessee Value Added Assessment System. The Level 5 designation, the highest possible rating in TVAAS, reflects the schools substantial progress across a range of subjects, from literacy and numeracy to science, demonstrating year-over-year growth that exceeds expectations. This accomplishment underscores the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, support staff, families and administrative team. We are continuing to show our Litton PRIDE!

This is the last full week before Thanksgiving Break! We will be celebrating with Thanksgiving Spirit Week. Please see the flyer for the Spirit Days below! In addition, we are encouraging students to complete a total of 4 I-Ready Lessons, 2 Reading and 2 Math Lessons over Thanksgiving Break for the opportunity to be invited to a special lunch of Chick-Fil-A!

As we get closer to the end of the Fall Semester, it is important that we emphasize the importance of your child attending school ALL DAY!! Attendance is a critical piece in the overall academic health of our school.

Please encourage your child to look through the lost and found this week all items left over thanksgiving break will be donated. The items will be placed in the hallways directly behind the office.

Parents, safety is a huge priority here at ILSMMS. We ask that anytime you are entering the building for an event that you have your ID available. We had a great turn out for the Thanksgiving luncheon and appreciate all the support that you give your student while here at ILSMMS each day.

Music, by virtue, is a shared art. Over the course of my three years at this school, I’ve come to realize that being a band director involves not just speaking to my students but connecting with the community at-large. Simply looking out at our concerts, I’m reminded of the power that a school band has in bringing people together. Our audience is made up of not just parents, but also families that attend the school that want to support the band and people in the community that enjoy hearing live music!

Watching the power that students have in sharing their joy for music has inspired me to start new traditions. Last year, I began hosting a reception after our winter concert where families of the band bring desserts to enjoy while student led small groups perform. Getting to highlight the students’ hard work and seeing them share their progress with loved ones brought a smile to everyone’s face.

This school year, we are continuing our laser focus on student attendance. It is an expectation that ILMS maintain a chronic attendance percentage to 18.3% or lower to meet our Annual Measurable Goal set by the state of Tennessee. In addition, schools must have at least a 95% overall daily attendance rate. As of today, ILMS has an overall attendance rate of 93.6% and a chronic absence rate of 19.6%. Please review the graphics below to learn more about chronic absenteeism and our school's data. Parents, we need your help, it is imperative that all students are at school on time every day!

If your child arrives at school after 8:55, they MUST be signed in by an adult. In addition, if your child is absent, please send a note to the office. You can also email any excuse notes to LittonMSAttendance@mnps.org. In addition, NO EARLY DISMISSALS AFTER 3:30PM. After 3:30, families can pick up students in the car rider lane. As a reminder ILSMMS allows 10 handwritten notes per school year for excused absences. Any handwritten notes after the 10th one will not excuse the absence.

It is imperative that all parents download Schoology and Infinite Campus Parent Portal to keep up with your child's grades, assignments, attendance, and discipline. It is an expectation that teachers update grades weekly. Any student that scores 70% or below on a test must complete a relearning plan and retake the assignment before the quarter ends. The Fall Sports Season is upon us! Please direct any questions about athletics to the main office. All students that participate and/or tryout for a sport MUST have a valid Sports Physical and Concussion Form on file.

We kindly ask for close-up shots in portrait mode, which can be candid moments or photos taken before or after the event. These images help us highlight the enthusiasm and dedication of our student-athletes.
