LISD School Newsletter
A Note from Dr. Martin
This was another busy and joyful week at school with a 6th grade musical, kindergarten graduation, 6th grade graduation, 8th grade graduation, a big elementary family potluck and beach day at Odlin, finishing up projects and assignments, device collection, club and classroom celebrations, completing fall registration for all secondary students, and more.
As we wrap up the 2024-25 school year, I am smiling and feeling very optimistic about our school community. We are reflecting on the successes and challenges of the year, and making plans for supporting our students next year with mastery based learning practices, community building activities, character education, a redesign of the middle school beginning-of-day routine, a modified calendar with more long weekend breaks throughout the year, and continuing to deepen our community partnerships.
This is the last full newsletter of the school year, but we will send important information and updates through Parent Square.
We still have one more day of school on Monday, and our retiring staff will ring the school bell at 2:00 that day to mark the end of the school year for everyone and the beginning of a new chapter for each of them. Congratulations to Coach Berg, Kathryn Kester, and Teri Linneman!
Have a great weekend and an even better summer!
All my best,
Martha

Bulk Purchase of School Supplies for Next School Year
Lopez Island PTSA is coordinating with teachers to organize bulk purchase of school supplies next year. This will save money, packaging, and headaches! We'll do the shopping and delivering for you! We are doing our best to keep costs as low as possible for this effort. We are fundraising now to try and cover as much of the expense as possible. The more funds we can raise ahead of time, the less it will cost families overall. Please give what you can at the link below. Thank you!
Orchestra Camp Sign Up Time is Now!
A music camp will be offered for new and returning violin, viola, cello, and double bass players entering 5th-12th grade. Schedule Questions over the Summer?
School Counselor Robb Ellis will be available to be contacted all summer by email for students and parents grades 7-12 to talk about their schedule and possibly make adjustments if those are possible. He can also set up Zoom meetings if needed. His email is: rellis@lopezislandschool.org.
Elementary Garden Enrichment
Ending the year with lots of laughter and fun! Dorian, Ethan, and Matteo discovered a new use for henbit, which will hopefully take the fashion world by storm. Sven’s radish harvest was quite pleasing, and the kindergartners showed their magical side with their fairy houses.
Summer Appointments for Sports Physicals
Get your student's sport physical taken care of over the summer so you don't have manage it during the busy school year. Sports physicals are required to be on file before any student can even practice with the team. Sports physicals are good for two years. If you are unsure of the last date of your student's sports physical, contact Ronda rberg@lopezislandschool.org.
