Update and Reminders

PVE Families,

THANK YOU, again, for being such a great community. We are ready to greet your child tomorrow and focus our time and energy on instruction for students. And thank you for giving me some time to finish preparing with staff today before sending out this communication. I know we are experiencing some last minutes changes and policies that impact our students and staff. We are ready to greet your child tomorrow and focus our time and energy on making their first day of school a positive and memorable one! We have all committed to focusing on what is best for students to help them learn and grow. We are still committed to building student ownership for their learning and providing the best instruction possible.

With that being said, we have experienced a policy change for the district that requires masks in the classroom. Our staff is ready to support and model the policies while also supporting the individual choice of our families. We know not everyone interested in the Opt-Out Form may have been able to get to the DSC today. Please know we are still looking forward to seeing your child in school and will welcome them as they come to us over the next couple of days while we await the forms for those choosing to use them. I am also happy to help you where I can concerning this document.

If you have not had a chance to read the information sent by the district office, I encourage you to do so, as the language clarifies that we require masks in the classrooms only.*

The West Ada School District Board of Trustees, in conjunction with the West Ada School District administration, decided during the Board meeting on August 24 that all students and staff are required to wear masks/face coverings properly, covering mouth and nose, while they are in the classroom until further notice. This was passed with a 3-2 vote. This decision will be revisited as needed.

*Please note that the opt-out does not apply to students on the school bus, as the Centers for Disease Control has issued a public health order requiring masks to be worn while on public transportation; this includes school buses. We must comply with a public health order.

EARLY RELEASE FOR THE FIRST DAY

Just a reminder that tomorrow is early release for the first day of school. Here is the bell schedule for the different programs and grades:

9:10 a.m. Tardy Bell

10:55 a.m. AM Preschool/ Kindergarten End

11:40 a.m. PM Preschool/ Kindergarten Start

1:25 p.m. Dismissal

Parent Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Please be sure to read the specific newsletter about parent pick-up and drop off, as there are changes from last year. https://www.smore.com/06rxg

The big changes include waiting at the exit points while we bring students to you at the end of the day.

*The first couple of days, our staff will be more lenient with parents on campus walking students to their meeting locations at the beginning of their day. However, after the first couple of days, we will ask you give your love and goodbyes at the entrance points and allow your child to walk to their meeting location.

Health & Safety Plan

Due to the changes made at the board meeting on Aug 24, the PVE Health and Safety Plan is being updated again and will be posted by Tuesday, August 31.
